Chicago has elected a new mayor. Lori Lightfoot defeated Toni Preckwinkle (good names). Ms Preckwinkle apparently lost a lot of support following an attempt to introduce a sugar tax on soft drinks. In a city with 82 murders in 2019 that seems an odd priority.

As of Dec 25 2018 the medical examiner had declared 539 deaths in Chicago in 2018 as homicides.this year the rate is down substantialy but that may be due to the insainely cold winter

Look at what the Democrats have done to previously far more successful cities like California, Detroit and Chicago......well ok, the first two.

Welfare and race means there likely won't be any change. The Candace Owens of the world are just too few in number.

Always interesting to get a perspective from residents actually living and working in the City. I spent some time at Chicago's Northwestern Uni many years ago. Fascinating City where Irish Americans have traditionally dominated local politics and favourite son, R. Kelly has recently fallen out of favour.
