wants to go back to Saints, would it be worth gazumping? versatile positionally with a lovely left foot, could be the type of player we need to make us better in possession

At 31 surely would only be a short-term option, albeit a good one. It is rare that midfielders seem to continue performing at the highest level beyond about 32 in the PL these days, plus he'd surely demand quite a high wage?

Not sure if he left on the best of terms from Southampton. It might be they don't want him back, especially if it costs alot.

Not a particularly inspired suggestion, too old and on big money.
We need youngsters hungry to prove themselves, not someone on the way down, seeing us as a meal ticket.

Very good player. Has never relied on his pace so getting older won’t be as important.
I think there would be a lot of interest if he became available, would improve our first eleven if his fitness is decent.

Had a lot of injuries so would take time to get match fit. At 31 not much time left st highest level. I say let Southampton have him! Let’s persevere with Meyer and hopefully he will be better next season....

18months too late for me; We should've bid for him a couple of seasons back when he looked like leaving the bin dippers

Only has a year left on his contract. Agree I'd be wary of signing him as he'll be expensive and slightly concerned that if Zaha left we could have a delicate future in the top flight. You wouldn't want to go down with too many ex-Liverpool players on the books as their wages will bankrupt us. But a loan could work for all, and then re-assess next summer
