some carb addict kid has just lost his sight and hearing - it's very sad but a part of me is saying not 'serves you right' but I can't bear kids who like their food a certain shape or facing a certain way and never touch anything that isn't comfort food, a diet of crisps chips and smarties that sort of thing, I don't go into the starving kids in Africa routine but the lack of respect and understanding of food which is indulged by parents can be bordering on criminal - as this case proves. Had a friend's daughter round who kept turning her nose up at anything remotely fresh I offered her (cinnamon toast it was - a tinned half apricot or two is a very nice accompaniment but not for this little princess). Personally I'd starve her until she had to eat some green beans or a strawberry - I can't do that so I'll just turn up on her doorstep and laugh when she's got rickets and scurvy.

I think it was different for kids whose parents had lived through rationing. Eat it or go hungry was the creed when confronted with home picked blackberries for the fourth time in a week.

. . . OR last nights dinner was on you breakfast bowl, because you wouldn't eat it & then it was still there when you came in from school for tea.

Happy days, didn't do any of us(oldies) any harm

Nip it in the bud and get kids helping in the kitchen as early as possible.
