Surely after the City game, it is obvious the three forwards that can do the business doesn't include Benteke, Tosun, Ayew and a returning Wickham all look better and more interested than, ever what Benteke has, l think Wickham deserves at least another crack after coming back from injury again?

I think it's time to give up on Wickham, along with Benteke.

Definitely Benteke, but loan out Conor Wickham, might get back to something like his best with injury free run in championship side

As soon as Benteke is back from injury Wickham won’t be in the squad.

Wickham for me hasn't got the killer instinct, although his pressure made the equaliser, that should of been his goal, just a gut and get in front of fernandinho. Get him out on loan and get his value up.

Agree100%. In an ideal world we get another striker in, Benteke is sold and Wickham goes out on loan.

Loan him, let him go for free....it's the same thing really, cause I can't imagine any Championship club paying actual money for a player who has been injured for 3 years.

If you only loan him, you have to pay a part of his salary. And he's on 60k a week from what I remember. Say you pay half of that for 2 years until he regains form, it's an expenditure of 3.2 million without knowing how well he will play.

Letting him go absolves the club of that salary. If he somehow becomes a regular scorer in the Championship, I doubt he will cost beyond 3-4 million at the age he will have in 2 years and at his injury record. So, you can buy him back then.

There is always someone willing to take a punt on a striker, especially one that is English and only 26. One half decent season in the Championship and suddenly he'll be worth £20m.

You only have to look at the likes of Carroll, Welbeck and Sturridge to see clubs will take a gamble.

You don't have to pay any of their wages, it's up to the 2 clubs to agree any loan fee and the % of wages paid by the loanee.

I would loan him out to a Championship club, for the rest of this season and then make a call in the summer. He may have been out for 3 years but in the few appearances he has made this season, he has scored a goal, set up Ayew's worldie and was also in the right place to force Fernandinho to score an OG. Not bad for someone out for 3 years and only a handful of minutes on the pitch.

He still has the ability, the question is purely can he stay fit. A fit Wickham is a very expensive player in this day and age.

Quite. Half a season in a decent champ team. Brilliant back he comes. Long term injured release. Ok but not up to prem sell to highest bidder.

Releasing and then buying backing if he hits potential is daft as he will be beyond our price range!

I think your being a bit too kind to Mr Wickham. I think he looks doomed as a player at this level. Definitely best for him to go out on loan and try get a few games on the bounce and see what happens but I can’t see him playing for us ever again.

..just ever so slightly OTT lol, if you were referring to our other striker then I may be more encouraged to agree but Wickham has enabled two points to travel back home with him from two very tricky fixtures and that to me suggests a player that we desperately need to hang onto.
