Whatever happened to Labour's prissy, holier-than-thou promise to provide "constructive opposition" during the coronovirus crisis? Civil servants and ministers have been working all the hours that God sends - for weeks, in fact months - to develop policies to save the country, and what is the Labour response to the government's plans? According to the radio this evening: "They're making it up on the hoof". What an insult. However reasonable and good a man Starmer may be, his party remain a contemptible rabble.

Lefties are liars who always promise you 'sugar candy mountain' and they financially trash the place. They always leave a mess for somebody else to clean up. All lies, in reality we have full employment, that unemployment rumour is just labour party lies, boris nearly dying in hospital? All true, he wasn"t on a ventilator like all the people with corona in the ward, he was struggling to finish a few bottles of red and watch a few films every night but was near to death, all true! I wish opposition parties wouldn"t criticise government,it"s so unfair when they are doing such an excellent job, winning us the corona european cup!

Labour opposition to the government will be limited as the voters bless 'em, put the tories in with an 87 seat majority. Labour and the others do not have the numbers anymore. Before the last election they were actually very effective in opposition, defeating Johnson regularly. Why are people now they expecting constructive opposition from the people they portrayed as 'marxist leftie loonies' anyway?

I think Starmer has a decent chance at the next election. For a start the country is likely to be in a poor financial state, and Boris is likely to fail in his promises due to various crises. If Labour can't win next time against Boris (if he even lasts) then they may as well give up. Starmer is Tory Lite really, just not quite as blue as Blair.

Being a smaller party doesnt stop you having a counter idea. Where are the different ways to do these things that boris is doing so wrong. It's ok to criticise but hell at least put down a solution or differing view. All labour are doing is pulling apart policies with none of their own. I think that is why it seems fruitless to even listen to it.

I think that is why it seems fruitless to even listen to it. One of the benefits of opposition is that you can pick apart the government whilst taking your time to formulate your own policies. The minute Labour puts forward its proposal the Tories will attempt to demolish them that is why Starmer is in no rush he has at least 3 years before the public get interested.
