Just wondered peoples opinions on how we will set up without wilf for the next few games if he is injured. We all know they are vital fixtures, so how will we go about them without out main man?

I think anything that doesn't have Townsend in it.

Jesus, he has become one bad player and has become more of a hindrance, which is a real shame.

I imagine Roy will continue with a 442, but I just hope that involves Mateta and perhaps Bats up top together.

We can then have Ayew and Eze out wide, which isn't ideal but can work.

There can be no argument that we rarely win when Wilf is not in the side. But, somehow or other Palace have to get over this and prove we are not a one-man show.

Is it a mental thing with our players when they see Zaha absent from the side? I'm sure we have won games when Wilf has been in the team but played poorly, so we ought to able on occasions to win without him.

I don't wish the boy an injury.... But I will be happy not see his winging, sulky, miserable face on the pitch for a while.
Zaha is just turning into a petulant child, constantly complaining.
Ayew in particular, Eze, Jairo and Benteke all got hammered in that game and all of them got up, trotted off and back in their position.
Watch Zaha, sit on the floor and throw his hands in the air, not winning a freekick.
He has flashes of brilliance, but they are few and far between now. Build the team with the decent players we have - Eze is the man, Benteke up fron, and interchange with the new lad and Bats. that is a good forward line.

We won without him last night - he did nothing for the whole time he was on the pitch.

I agree that Andros is somewhat of a liability at the moment and the squad is as we say at this point every year incredibly thin. I think the 4-2-3-1 formation suits us perfectly and every time we revert back to 4-4-2 the performances turn dire. This is because the midfield is too slow and teams cut through us like butter. Unfortunately Wilf in the
4-2-3-1 system is a big loss and Andros isn’t a suitable replacement. Eze also is wasted stuck out wide. With what we have I think this is the best formation and line up 4-3-2-1.

Guita

Clyne Dann Cahill PVA

Kouyate Luka Reiderwald

Eze. Ayew

Bats

I shouldn't think Roy will change to a third system in three games, so it'll be either 451 (or 4231 as folk call it), or 442.

Probably the latter, and probably with Eze wide left and Ayew on the right, and possibly the two Belgians up top?

Most likely 4-5-1 with Eze playing as an attacking midfielder with Riedewald and Milivojevic either side of him, I would prefer to see Ayew on the right and I’d like to see PVA in a more advanced role at left midfield, otherwise it will likely be McArthur (if fit) filling that remaining slot and we will play without a lot of natural width but hopefully control the midfield.

Benteke alone up front unless Mateta is finally unleashed.

He's scored 1 in 2 this season in a team that would be relegated without him. He's playing much more up front/through the middle where things are more crowded than out wide where he can beat a man and "show a flash of brilliance". He's also had the odd assist I think.

He's been electric.

So carry on hating him if it works for you, but if you're a Palace fan, be careful what you wish for.

Hate is a strong word. I don't hate him of course.
Only winning games with him is not about him as a player (he is non existent in 40-50% games, last night included, it's about the Management of the situation when he is not on the pitch. The Management don't have a plan B after "lump the ball to Wilf and sit back and watch!"
