I’m resigning myself to the fact this is Wilfs last season. I don’t blame him. He could wreak havoc at the right club playing open football where he is not being marked out of the match. That will be our biggest hole to fill. A massive great crater to be precise.

Hopefully what ever they think is best and not what they are told to do.

Very brave of him I think - taking a stand, literally, against what has become a futile gesture.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

And this is what happens if you don't toe the established line.

Quite. I hope Wilf's strong enough to withstand the online battering he'll inevitably receive.

The message can be reinforced without such theatrics.

Be nice if Wilf now concentrated on getting fit and earned his £140k (or whatever) a week.

The rest of the team can do likewise.

At the end of the day they are footballers carrying out their jobs on match days. Leave politics and indiscretions by the public for the government and authorities to deal with.

When you are constantly receiving online abuse and the authorities seemingly do nothing you can understand why he has had enough. My only concern with this is that it could be twisted to support a right-wing media agenda and Wilf doesn't always seem like he is that media savvy. Also, those on the left and the right often seem to forget there are human beings involved and both are culpable of going on the offensive to support their agenda and I just hope he doesn't fall victim for being vocal about his views. It should be remembered though that Bentenke had already decided to stop taking the knee against Spurs and even ran into an opposing player to demonstrate his commitment [Link]
