Just wondering if wilf would have put either of those crosses in for both our goals the other night ? Does he do one trick to many sometimes ? Not knocking Wilf but Sometimes a winger/wide player just doing the basic gets more rewards and would probably be more beneficial to Benteke and Mateta. Your thoughts ?

It's more difficult for a striker to make a run when a winger cuts back I think.

Difficult one Aero, it's a trade off between wanting Wilf to put more crosses into the box and acknowledging his incredible ability to beat players resulting in creating a better goalscoring opportunity.

I remember many a day thinking Wilf getting fouled in the box for a penalty was our only chance of a goal!

I think the most desirable answer is for him to cross or beat his man when appropriate! His ability to go past players is something I have never seen replicated live from any other player asides from Bolasie and St Maximin (last few years).

I remember being lucky enough to watch Barca vs Deportivo La Coruna at the Nou Camp a couple of decades ago. Ronaldinho was incredible to watch but as controversial as it may sound he didn't beat players as easily as I've seen Wilf do, acknowledging I only saw him live for that one match.

The ultimate question (for me) is do we play Wilf solely as a Right Winger with all the duties that accompany that (crossing included), or do we keep him on the left, where he's happy, knowing that he is by far our best player? I'm inclined to think it's best to just let him do what he wants

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

A couple of posters have pointed out that Wilf is right footed and Townsend left footed. They play on the opposite sides as inside forwards. Inside forwards cut inside and shoot. But if we swapped their sides and used them as wingers, they could naturally cross the ball for our tall strikers. I think we should use them as wingers. However, the Wilf situation is difficult as he's scored goals as an inside forward this season. There would be less chance of that as a right winger.

I've always thought he was at his most dangerous playing as an out and out winger. This may be controversial, but I believe he has lost a yard of pace and can no longer beat players like he used to.

Due to this, he is now more effective as a striker, but was better as a winger before, than he is as striker now. He is worth £70m to us because we're so reliant on him. I believe £70m was a fair price tag 3 years ago, but not anymore. More like £35m due to his age.

Either way, we don't create as many chances as we should do with players like him and Eze in the team. For several seasons we have been so reluctant to cross and this is where Benteke is at his best, as we saw with his goals against Weed & West Ham.

Wilf's assists have usually always come from cut backs, I doubt he'll be getting past full backs when he's in his 30s though so crossing may be something he does a bit more of in the future.

Was good to see us lining up old school left footer on the left and right on the right, never known wilf to be any good at crosses

Wilf has been an out and out striker this season, eze, schlupp, townsend and even pva have filled the left role.

As far as I’m concerned Wilf can do what he likes. He is immense for Palace. My only advice to him would be to shoot more from the 20 -30 yard range. He’s got a hell of a shot on him. Look at that goal he got v Arsenal I think last season at home. A real belter. Nearly broke the net. Hurry back maestro you are being missed.

We are fortunate to have had Zaha, great, he now deserves to play for a club competing in European games
