Home Truths documentary: BBC 1 9pm tonight. About the abuse he suffered as a kid. Dreadful.

So glad he managed to find Selhurst. And so glad I was at Wembley in 1990!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

His autobiography is a good read. I know many Palace fans don’t like him for his Arsenal antics but I still have a soft spot for him. Maybe I’m biased as he is the grandfather of my wife’s nieces child ( one of several produced by Shaun)

Absolutely dreadful.

Many years ago I met Ian's dear mother 'Nesta'.To me she came across as a charming lovely lady and it was a pleasure to be in her company.I had no idea at the time Ian's experiences as a child.Must have been so traumatic.

Wright has spoken about this aspect of his life a few times now. I remember listening to him on something like Desert Island Discs, and another podcast with Colin Murray. Very emotional stuff.

The young man Wright became was formed by the anger he felt as a result of his childhood, and only as a middle aged man did he begin to look inside himself, get some help, and resolve the unhappiness.

Good on him for talking about it.

Aside from this one issue, his whole life is this incredible, emotional rollercoaster that would be dismissed as too far fetched if turned into a film. He tells his own story very well in my opinion, and does so for the right reasons.

Beginning to look like Trevor McDonald.
