Take it you’ve unsubscribed. I also get a load of crap from abroad which I can’t unsubscribe, fortunately it goes into junk, so once a day just delete the lot.

First off never unsubscribe from a company you have never heard off, you've just confirmed a valid email address to the spammers which just makes it worse.

By all means if it is a site you have subscribed to they will remove you.

There is very little else you can do if you get this junk mail. The ISP's do their best to block it getting to their clients but the scammers will always find a way.

Make sure you have your junk email filter on and check your junk folder as sometimes valid emails end up there by mistake.

Another trick I learnt relates to my email address e.g.

Joe.Bloggs@btinternet.com

Spammers will send you an email addressed to

Dear Joe.Bloggs or Dear Joe if you are not paying attention you might click on it and then download a virus.

My email address is not a real name e.g.

Fatbloke@Btinternet.com

so if I get an email Dear FatBloke I know straight away it's spam.

Other than that stop trawling those p*** sites.

What you can do also is just use webmail which will give you an extra layer of protection.

If you are constantly getting hassled from a particular domain (eg. bloody@annoying.com) you can set up a rule ... when I receive anything from annoying.com move to deleted and delete it.

If I buy anything or interact with the net in any way I use one email which I expect to be spammed (gmail is ideal for this), and a private domain email for more serious stuff like work and friends.

I use Mailwasher which examines the mail whilst it's on the mail server and you can delete the spam without downloading it. You can also blacklist any spammer so that Mailwasher will delete any further emails from them without wasting your time by showing it to you
