A couple of months ago I drew attention to Chris Winter's new book, Complete Biased Commentary 1969-21. It's a terrific read, bothe serious and entertaining.

Everyone will have seen that the Home page of this site

includes a montage of eleven Palace books recommended for Christmas. As it happens, I can't see myself reading any of them because the titles make clear that the contents are fairly trivial. But my question is why are all these books advertised on HOL but not Winter's? Well, it's because they're all written by Gordon Law, who happens to be the Content Director of the HOL site. That doesn't look right. And let's not forget that all profits from Winter's book

I don't suppose that the W in your user name stands for winter does it?

I presume that that question has a more subtle meaning than meets the eye. But in any case the answer's No.

Why? A man who writes for his living advertises his books about Palace, on the site that he puts in considerable time and effort to help run, FREE, for the benefit of Palace fans worldwide.

Which self-same site also gives you the opportunity to advertise and promote a book written (presumably) by someone you know, FREE of charge, and from which a worthy charity will benefit.

Seems a pretty even benefit to me........

Fair dos. It's just that when I saw a list of recommended Palace books I was astonished that the most recent wasn't mentioned. And I think mentioning it would have done a further service to HOL readers. But you've been associated with this site far longer than me and I bow to your greater experience and judgment.
