Am i right that Tyrick is now part of the 25 man squad which will be announced in August as he will be 22 in September. So no longer classed as an under 21 player? I'm pretty sure that players who are 21 from or after last January are classed as under 21, but Tyrick was 21 in September 2020. Anyway we could do with adding to our 25 man squad quickly!!! because after the release of our out of contract players, we only have 16 players currently under contract (that includes Mitchell if i'm correct, and Mateta who is on loan to us until the end of next season)

Yes Mitchell will be one of the 25 this coming season. Only those under 21 as at 1st Jan 2021 can be excluded from the named squad for this coming season, so. for example, Hannam, who won't be 21 till Sep doesn't need to be included in the 25 but can, of course, play for the first team.

I can think of plenty of Palace players who are over 21 who, with a bit of luck, could be excluded from the squad this coming season :-)

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

You contradict yourself, as Mitchell isn’t 22 until September.

over the last week i have read a few tweets from dickhead c***y palace fans knocking him.

i would like to show my support for the kids learning to play under a new manager…for clarity

1) he is not s***
2) he is still learning his trade at the top level
3) he is better defensively than PVA.

lets support the future of the club not put them down!

if you are a palace fan putting him down give your head a wobble & wake up.

Well said! He’s given me a lot less concerning moments that the much lauded PvA.

I will put myself in the firing line. On positive side Mitchell is good defensively. My issue is what he brings going forward. Under Roy this was not a major issue as we sat deep and full backs defended narrow especially against bigger teams. Now there is a need to play out it was apparent to me against Brentford that Mitchell could only play out down the line. Brentford knew this and closed down this option forcing Mitchell to lose possession. I don't think this has gone unnoticed hence why he did not play on Tuesday.
It will be interesting to see if this can be addressed in training and if so how quickly he can adapt. This will be a real indication on how good he is going to be as a player going forward and how good our coaches are.

Has looked uncomfortable on the ball, does not naturally want to progress forward. Better defensively. Pva would have worked better in the way Vieira wants to play. Under Hodgson he had less pressure to be positive on the ball. He's not ready to be the starting left back imo at this moment in time. Ward struggling just as much.

It’s all about opinions. TM is not the finished article but will only get better through playing at this level. I read countless posts on here about giving the youngsters a chance and yet when we do many are quick to criticise. Give the lad a chance.
