Very fond memories of him as a player but if he's getting the bullet at that level maybe management is just not for him and he's 70 so retirement must be on the cards.

sometimes he was the very best of managers, and other times the very worst.

best wishes & thanks for the good times.

What a player and he deserves his legacy.

Can't help thinking of the goal he served to Alan Whittle in the FA Cup Quarter Finals 1976 in a packed Roker Park, (SUNDERLAND-C.PALACE 0-1), what a player! He is one of those who put Palace on the map. He hasn't been that good managerwise.I wish him the best.

I used to stand at the halfway line in the Arthur and if (!) we scored he would have a laugh and joke with the us. He was a tremendous player and a good bloke.

Still makes my all time best eleven as a player, hilarious Norman Wisdom and Freddie Star impressions as well. The less said about him as a manager the better I think

Many at my local club Welling United regret the previous ownership's decision to get rid of him to bring in Warren Feeney who was a disaster!

Wasnt a very good manager anywhere he has been . His best days were with the England U21s where he was quite succesfull . Was also tempoary manager of England for one game which won't be remembered by anyone but David Beckham who Taylor made captain for his first time .
Great player for us , Happy retirement Peter .

And we still need a striker

He did well at Hull which got him his move to Palace. Also kept Welling United up against all odds in Conference South League two seasons ago.
But apart from that I also am struggling to think of anything else positive that he's done in his management career.
