On the face of it a strange move , if true, as we are well served in wide areas and it doesn’t strike me as an area that is crying out to be strengthened.
We have had a long serving interest in him, however, and he has an excellent left foot with good crossing ability and ability to manipulate the ball from wide areas.
It may have made more sense when we were crying out for somebody to provide crosses to Benteke, which no longer appears to be the case.
I suppose there is a possibility we are preparing for a future without Zaha /Olise and moreover there does not appear to be any sign of Olise returning from injury at present.

He is quality player and a really hard working player, something that is not that common to find. I'm not sure whether we need him but he would undoubtedly improve us and provide stiff competition for Wilf. If he comes in maybe Edouard will leave, either on loan or permanently?

I thought he was left footed McNeil?? If not I apolgise but if so I think he may be looked at to prop up the right wing where Ayew maybe once did? Some competition for Olise might be good for him plus for entirely subjective reasons I just cannot see Olise being a 90 mins week in/week out player... again not sure why!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

He is very much left-footed, he has a cultured left-foot, has a hammer of a shot and good delivery with his left-foot.Found wanting on his right foot.

So the conversation in the West Ham Board Room goes something like this:

“What do we need?”
“Definitely a winger.”
“Shall we send our scouts to have a look at a few options?”
“Yes…NO, wait a minute…..who are Palace after?”
“Forget sending out our scout, someone at Palace has done our work for us”
“Make an offer of £5m more than Palace - Job done!”
“Right, next on the agenda….burgers! “ Fans are complaining they don’t taste nice.”
“Should we hire a new chef?”
“Yes…No, wait a minute…..who makes Palace’s burgers?”

Along those lines. He is for a young player very experienced and in most of his seasons very effective surprised there has not been more interest in him at the kind of money so far talked about.
Ayew, only one year contract, probably the last, Olise, what a talent ,but still developing , not yet a 90 minute certainty, in fact more effective as an impact player as of yet. Dwight could play either side and If we do get top ten and it brings European competition, we need a bigger stronger squad even if it appears to put a squeeze on some regulars, the top sides all develop tight competition and rotate, we have to get there one day .
