In the absence of McArthur and/or a Gallagher type player I’m not sure we have the players to play a successful version of 4-3-3.
We don’t have the wing backs to play 3 at the back which would enable us to stretch potentially 4 or 5 across the midfield.
We’re not controlling midfield for long periods of the games which means the defence is continually under pressure and the forwards are starved of service.
Eze has looked most effective for me tucked in on the left of midfield with freedom to cut in from the left.
I’m not sure he’s suited to a 3 man midfield and he may well be better suited to a 4 man system.
Doucoure looks to be our only player at home in a 3 man midfield at the moment, but it puts a lot of onus on him.
I’m wondering whether we’d be better off with some form of 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 until we have more genuine options in midfield.

Its crying out for 4-2-3-1, i would even try Ward alongside Doucoure, as DMs to give Wilf, Eze Olise more freedom

Doucoure is carrying the other two. Shows how good he is and it's a pity that he doesn't have a player of similar calibre alongside him, then we could get to grips with contesting the midfield and supplying the wing and front line. 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 seems reasonable given the circumstances.
