shame on you people. Gordon Law's article hit the nail on the head, if you cant be arsed to go to a ground 6 miles away, and you dont 'have better things to do', then you should not call yourself a palace fan. our forefathers would be disgusted if they knew we were struggling to take 1000 to the den - safety isnt a problem either if you have a bit of sense. If you dont wear colours and make a swift entrance upon arrival, then its all good.

Fans from previous generations would also cringe at us saying "i might go if we beat rotherham" - something i saw on the bbs. i have seen one fan that couldnt go because arrangements couldnt be made to aid her disability, not an excuse but a fact. A bloke missed the birth of his fkin kid to go to the 5-0 brighton match - that kind of sentiment and devotion to seeing your team against their arch rivals (the New den is 6 miles from selhurst) is what a football club like ours should pride itself on. Millwall brought 4000 this year, 5000 last - why? Because they care for their team and are willing to sing their hearts out for the team they love, even if it means running the risk of losing. Their average attendance this year has been about 9000, so half of their season ticket holders/members turned up earlier this season - we have 11000 (or is it 8000 simon?!) season ticket holders, and we cant take 10% of that to the millwall match - thats p1ss poor.

My last point about this shameful subject is that looking back over the season, our away support has always been good - better than last year at least. At Ipswich, on a sunday, albeit after a couple of good wins, we took what i estimate to be about 2800/3000, and made them look silly. Despite losing the lead, our players fought back, showing the resilience we so often crave at palace. Then Butterfield pops up and nicks it with 10 minutes to go - the 3000 that travelled what is a lot further than 6 miles got a good win against a quality side. the satisfaction of an away win is hard to match - but just imagine it against Millwall. Course, most of you will, and will then think 'Oh well, i will next year'. I can bet loads of you were there when we beat em 4-1 on boxing day - what an event eh?i can also bet that most of the people going were there that day. I know the kicking recieved outside wasnt too pleasent but the dens a different place now.

Can i go to millwall? nah, im cutting the grass but i will next year.

speechless, havent recovered from my fantastic unbelievable amazing trip to anfield to see my beloved palace take on the scousers and win 2-0. i have never been so proud to be an eagle, im just amazed.

If people don't want to go, then they don't want to go. Millwall can barely get 9,000 for a home game, yet bring over 4,000 away. What a loyal bunch of w***ers they are. The Palace game is just some sort of sick show of strength that they can go and take on a soft touch and feel hard. Wow, lets all travel back to the eighties shall we when it was fun to go to football.

If you still can't wear your colours then something is seriously wrong. The whole thing is because of the apathy (that word again) that has surrounded the club since SJ employed TF.

As for our forefathers, during the 70's and 80's we only took about a couple of hundred (all undercover) to the old Den. I went to all the games then but i decided to stop going there about 10 years ago and nothing has happened to change my mind, certainly not Trevor Fcuking Francis!!!!

I had decided long ago that, unless the Millwall & Gillingham games were important in terms of league position, I wouldn't bother. I've never enjoyed the New Den and can't stand seeing us thumped there, while Gillingham is a bugger of a journey, a tip of a stadium, and invariably brings out Palace's worst performance of the season. For the last few weeks I've been so overwhelmed by apathy that even home games have become a chore, so I definitely won't be going to either. I'll be about half a mile to the West, supping ale in the sun at The Oval, listening to the faint sounds of police sirens from Bermondsey.

THAT is the nail on the head. There is only one reason I'm even interested in football in the first place, and that is the enjoyment I get out of it. That's why so many are p*ssed off at the current reign of Francis, simply that its less enjoyable to watch third rate football.

Great, I can go to the game if i don't wear colours, and I'm street wise. Whoopee. So I can go if every step is thought through, and the only reason I'm there, to support the team, has to be effectively denied for much of the trip. Thats not quite what I call enjoyment. That is why I'm not going.

I don't usually disagree with Gordon Law but I certainly can't be arsed to go to Millwall. I have been making the pilgrimage to the Old and New Dens for many decades and am afraid that the statement that you are perfectly safe as long as you don't wear colours and slink along the street like a frighened rat doesn't appeal to me either. You will, of course, be even safer if you wear a blue shirt and put a lion mask ovr your head! Millwall may have improved over the years but I don't feel safe there and I have got better things to do on an Easter Monday. And public transport will be crap too, bank holday style.
