Yesterday's incident at Old Trafford reminded me of David Fry, our mainly reserve 'keeper, who was with us for 6 years until 1983. He only played 45 first team games before being transferred to Gillingham. I was at a reserve game at Selhurst when a clear foul was committed by a Bristol City player. The ball was collected by David Fry who put the ball down with the intention of taking a free kick. Chris Garland promptly put the ball into the empty net and as the ref had not blown for a foul a goal was awarded much to Fry's disgust. I think we lost 3-1. Apparently David was a really nice man. He would now be 50 and I wonder what happened to him.
lo Selhurst silva felix, lo Selhurst cara nutrix, viget, vigeat, vigebit! Best team:- Jackson; Gilbert, Evans, Cannon, Sansom; Hughes, Kember, McNichol; Byrne, Holton, Wright. |
