According to Sky transfer centre, the Mirror are now reporting we will move for Dame N'Doye from Hull for £4m, if we miss out on Austin. Can't say i'm thrilled if he's the plan b, if of course there is any truth behind it.

I'm not sure about him. Pretty good record in Scandinavia (which means nothing. The standard of the domestic leagues isn't high) and a respectable record in Russia. Streaky player but didn't do badly for Hull. His scoring record there in three months translates to 15 goals a season for a poor side that wasn't creating many chances. Could be a sleeper; with decent service there's a hint that he may be a 15-20 goal a season scorer so he has the potential to be an absolute steal. He also has nowhere near the sort of profile that Charlie Austin has, so he's likely to be available at a sensible price that represents value. I'd prefer Remy or Ba, but I'd prefer N'Doye at 4 million to Austin at 15. Doesn't set the pulse racing right now but has the potential to be a very shrewd signing.

Totally agree; Austin is a decent player, but £15m? He might get 15 goals again next season he might not, no guarantee just because he has a high profile at the moment. If we paid £15m and he got injured after a handful of games, we wouldn't have much of a budget to replace him in January.

N'Doye will miss as many as he scores, but he gets into the right positions at least and there's as much a chance he might get 15 as Austin. If he doesn't do the business we can still get someone in January.

Looked pretty good against us, and probably a better value signing than Austin or Remy. Having said that, are we looking for value or are we looking for quality? We have lots of strikers already, what we want is one that takes us to the next level, as Villa did with Benteke, Swansea did with Bony etc. I'm not convinced that N'Doye is good enough to be that striker, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Certainly a very good one-touch finisher but he can be a bit hit and miss. Two good feet, can score with both feet and his head.A real team player who covers a lot of ground in a game and can hold the ball up well.Takes free kicks over a wall.If I am not mistaken I think Hull paid £5.25 Mill rising to £6.25 Mill.Previously, Everton paid Rangers £5.5 Mill for him.

Dame N'Doye's no substitute for Austin or Cissé. He's 30 years old and not on the same technical level. That said, he's still got a bit of pace and a decent finish so it'd be a good signing if he wasn't our only new striker. He'd add to the squad, but not significantly enough to replace Murray.

I know this is a somewhat ephemeral point but hearing Bruce talk about him, N'Doye seems like a player whose make-up would be well suited to the sort of ethic and team spirit that is prized at Palace and which seems to be an important part of CPFC2010s recruitment policy. I suspect Parish (rightly, on the evidence) would be very reluctant to sign a player, no matter how good, whose face was felt not to fit. The fact that N'Doye is a hard worker and team player makes me think the interest may be genuine.

Don't get too upset about seeing n'doye as plan b or c...he's a bloody good player and would compliment our forward line well.

A yes from me.

At this stage in our development we need a shed load of cash available for infrastructure improvements.

£15m players are too much for us until we get that sorted.

Totally agree, all this talk about moving on to the next level is nonsense. We are half a season out of the relegation zone. This season should be about avoiding relegation as early as possible, and possibly for the couple of seasons.
