He's just become a free agent. Got accustomed to playing lower in the recent years, as a central or defensive midfielder, a deep-lying playmaker.

I think he was ok at Palace. Got to appreciate the left footers. He was good in the Championship. Would he work as back-up for Puncheon?

Err, probably not. But should the club allow him to train for old times sake?

I miss Andre Moritz too, another left footer

I remember some wallies on here saying how he was going to be great in the premiership.

I recall him playing for us against Walsall in the cup under Warnock about 2 years ago.

I vividly recall noticing his kit was far too big and that he was so left footed it was painful. Also no pace.

I liked the guy but he was painfully slow and at times looked like he was playing underwater. Wasn't anything special in the championship either. As I said though, I did like him

Technically a decent player, there's worse in the PL but application was appalling. Did a decent job for us but he has massively under achieved

Garvan, Barry Bannan, O'Keefe, Guediora, Mutch... We had some seriously crap midfielders who were all rated by different people on these boards.

Guediora and Bannan were brilliant when concentrating.

Most at various times contributed to where we are now.

You can't really use today's benchmark to measure players from past seasons.

Surprised they released him as he was the best player on the pitch when I saw Colchester win 3-0 at Cheltenham earlier this season.

Unless it is cost cutting.

Maybe Garvan a little in the championship. The rest did nothing and shouldn't have been at Palace

All decent championship players (except maybe O'Keefe league 1 at best), all deserved to make a living at that level and all contributed in their on way to Palaces progress. Mutch though is struggling on Reading's bench, about his level really.
