We have a very good goal difference in relation to our fellow relegation candidates.
Both Sunderland and Hull lost this weekend.
We defended well against a quality in form side.
We have more vital time before a crunch game away to Bournemouth Tuesday week to further implement Sam's strategy and a further very useful training session next Saturday against a future quality side who will be out to win.
Finally, there remains another 9 days before the current window slams shut to get Sam's transfer targets into the club. Our bad run will stop, hopefully with a win at Bournemouth which will prove to be a platform for us to build onwards and upwards.

Yeah. But if we don't sign anyone else before the window closes, we are stuffed?

It'll Pardew's fault anyway......

That's the big plus we've got going for us - goal difference.
Well that and Allardyce.

Goal difference means nothing when we are in the drop zone. And we have lost ground with goal difference since Allardyce came here. Remember?

Goal difference will mean everything if we've got the same points as the team that finishes joint third from bottom with us.
Wouldn't you say?

I would. But, we are 7 (seven) goals worse off since Boxing Day. And now in the drop zone. If we had the same points as Swansea, you would have an argument. However, we are 2 points off survival, and having a goal difference +20 wouldn't change that.

It's all immaterial though because it's still a fair way til the end of the season.

Yes but Swansea won away at Liverpool and Hull played really well at Chelsea, outplaying them for long periods.Only Sunderland look poor so it's going to be tough for us to stay up.

the only positive is that wilf is one game closer to returning.

sam just needs to use him in the correct manner & we should be ok.

You make a valid point, but with Wilf returning probably sooner than expected to provide us with a timely boost to our morale, why should we not start to turn our fortunes around ,and we will, with a bit of luck for a change ,starting at the Bournemouth game, which we will win.
