Townsend Benteke Wilf

What do you think guys ? For me there's defo enough there to get out of trouble, we would have good options from the bench too and Thats without any January additions.

I don't think speroni has any chance of playing. And rightly so- Hennessey is not the calamity many of you believe him to be. The trouble with our left backs is that each one of the three has the ability to be a liability as well as a match winner. I'm torn on that one. Used to think Souare was a shaky defender but good crosser, while PVA is a solid defender when that's his main job. He used to mark wilf out of almost every game when we'd play Sunderland. Having said that he has been poor this season, while I never trusted Schlupp as a defender and think he's a bit clumsy going forward. If the three were combined they would make one hell of a player. I still would have liked to see Schlupp played on the wing when wilf was out.

Speroni has every chance of playing if Hennessey ever does unto himself what Heaton did last week.

Of course that would be reactive not tactical.

I agree with your comments. I would have played Schlupp wide left instead of Punch with PVA at left back.

This without doubt is our strongest side. It's actually a bloody good side. Easily midtable quality. The only issue we have is how many points we are going to be adrift before this side is available and obviously injuries. Benteke gets injured, screwed. Wilf breaks down after injury, Screwed. Sakho breaks down after injury, screwed. Can we make it to January and still be in contention? I hope so

I'd rather have Wickham than Benteke.

The worst thing about our start to the season is the longer we go without a win, the more pressure is heaped on the players, and consequently they will play increasingly nervously. I think we saw this against Southampton. That's why I think these games against big sides are crucial- the players won't be expected to get anything from them, and the underdog attitude might suit them. Nick 1 or 3 points from city or united and that'll carry into the following games.

I doubt that would happen. Heaton came out, leapt up in air to meet the ball but just got caught by Mee coming down and landed awkwardly.
Hennessey would just stand there waiting for the defender to clear it and not bother to get involved!

I mean, yeah it's not super likely, but we managed to do it last year with the same team. Here's hoping
