Candidates : Croydon Roy, took the steering wheel when we were headed for the graveyard. Modest January transfer window. Massive injury crisis. Benteke totally off-form. 34 Points by mid April, Took 4 points off Brighton. Roy is the hero, and a gentleman.

Sean Dyche for me. The man has performed absolute miracles there. You could argue that Arsenal have underachieved, but for Burnley to be only a matter of points behind them is incredible. And all 3 managers of the promoted sides have done well to be this far away from the relegation zone with 4ish games to go. Would, of course, love to see Roy win it, though. It's so easy to understate Roy's achievement because we are a Prem club of 5 seasons and clearly had a good enough squad to not be in a relegation battle. Under normal circumstances that is true but normal circumstances are generally a team is under-performing, a few points off the pace and a new Manager needs to come in and sort it- Everton and Big Sam or even us and Big Sam last year. This season was a totally different kettle of fish though. We broke all sorts of records for being the worst Prem club. Most losses in a row, least goals, most home losses etc etc. Then when we just get going we have the worst injury crisis we've ever had followed by our Chairman and inexperienced Director of Football crapping the bed in January and not supporting Roy at all. I don't think it's red and blue tinted glasses to say our man Roy deserves it should we stay up.

I wouldn't grudge Pep getting it which he probably will, he has brought an exciting style of football which is good on the eye as opposed to the boring dirge fed to the other side of Manchester

Look at the improvement in the following players: Bakery Sako, Riedewald, Wan-Bissaka, Hennessey, Milivojevic, everyone really except Benteke and possibly Puncheon. Sako was completely unrecognisable until some thug broke his foot and Wan-Bissaka has displaced one highly experienced stalwart and a United loanee from a standing start.

If we're talking about our own player of the year, you've got to consider Luka. A rock in midfield, fantastic at set pieces - Jedinak with go-fast stripes. He's absolutely what we needed and has got to be one of our best bits of transfer business in recent years.

If BBC pundits decide they'd go for Klopp, if you go for premiership winner it's Pep, Red and Blue tinted specs it's Roy, underdogs it's Dyche. I believe it's a three way draw between Hughes,Pullis and Pardew
