Mine was Enter the Dragon As you say it was an X film and yet today you can watch it on terrestrial TV, how times have changed.

I think it was 'grave of the vampire' A good evening would be topped up with an underage pint of keg bitter in the pub across the roundabout from cinema. Having watched a fair bit of dross I got a bit of a shock seeing the exorcist which scared the s*** out of me, only watched it again a few years ago and actually appreciated it for the great film it is not just a knicker wetter!

There was a double bill of The Wicker Man and Don’t Look Now which were both better than they seemed at the time although The Wicker Man was properly creepy.

The Odeon Beckenham my local. I think I was 14 when I saw Enter The Dragon. The pub opposite is called The Bricklayers never liked it further up the high street is the George where I had my first pint at 14, was well known for underage drinking as long as you behaved yourself.

A clockwork orange was my first x film in 1973 before they banned it, followed by The Devils and The exorcist. Although they were De riguer for us sixteen year olds, i have to say i didn’t really get the first two, and thought the devils in particular was sh1te.

I think my first X film was The Omen, at Studio 123 in Sutton (previously The Curzon). I was underage. Edited by Cucking Funt (08 May 2019 3.56pm)

I saw Quadrophenia at the Streatham ABC when it came out in 1979 when I was 11 or 12. A mate of my sister worked there and got me in for free. I also saw Scum the same year but not sure which was first. A Phil Daniels double.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |
