My son has been doing some scouting work ( unpaid) for an Icelandic club. As part of his work he has been producing graphics of their set plays etc. He has now come up with an idea to try to make some money and has produced the below graphic of all Zahas goals for Palace. It will be approximately A5 size. I would welcome your thoughts on this idea and how much people may be willing to pay. I have also advised him to try to contact Wilf and send him a copy, any ideas how he could do this? Any thoughts on other graphics people may be interested in?

I would be concerned about the club's and players' image rights if approaching Wilf. I'm no expert on it though. I presume they would actually block selling anything unofficial.

I agree that he may have to be wary of copyright stuff. The Premier league is awful for that sort of thing. There does seem to be a market for slightly abstract football art. Maybe he can try contacting artists like dgriffin or dkn design and see if they ever had to tussle with image rights etc.

Replace the stars with a left boot, right boot or head with a number behind them. Switch the number every season. Add some text boxes with leaders to some of the goals that have some stats about them... First ever goal, first brace, fastest goal, furthest goal, play-off semi goals. Stick a table in the corner with some kind of summary - appearance, goals, assists every season. Can't imagine it being sold in high numbers im afraid. Maybe it would be good on a t-shirt or mouse mat. Or direct to the club to go in a programme?

It’s a little like the cricket when they show where the runs have come from. The star from near our half must have been the Chelsea game.

You appear to be correct. He has been in touch with someone who has done freelance work for Palace, he had no problem until his business ( doing similar) grew. Now Palace are after him and want him to buy a license.
