Who do you think will be in the starting XI?

I think: Guaita, Mitchell, Andersen, Guehi, Ward, Riedewald, Kouyate, Gallagher, Zaha, Benteke, Olise.

I think top 10 will be very hard but with all these signings it looks possible. But with AFCON in January Palace could miss players like Ayew, Kouyate and Zaha.

I would rather Palace go all on for a cup FA CUP and EFL CUP even if they finished 13th it would mean a place in Europe. Which most Palace fans would rather want a trophy and European place.

I'm not bothered about a European place, but would welcome a season without the spectre of relegation ever-present. Plus a cup final, of course! Very excited about the new signings, which suggest the appointment of Vieira is helping attract talented players.

I think surving this season would be fine, maybe 15th/16th in the end. Then mid table next season and pushing on. I think this season is the transition season and cannot be looked at similarly to others with our new signings, youngsters and managerial change. One positive from Viera looks like we will defend higher, hopefully suiting the pace of younger players, plus the power of Wilf, Ayew and Schlupp when needed. Not sure about our passing from the back and it still looks too that crossing is not going to happen much, thus negating Benteke's main (only?) threat.

You must have a good memory, we haven't been in the relegation zone since the end of Roys first season (week 29 2017/1.

I suspect we could be back there during the first 5 weeks of next season but so long as we are not there after week 38 I for one will be happy.

Couple of these threads now...and I don't know how anyone can really make an assessment when we've never really seen some of the players play. But on paper, I'd go:

Guiata

Clyne - Andersen - Tomkins - Mitchell (or new)

Luka

Riederwald - Eze

Olise - Benteke - Zaha

Guaita

Ward Tomkins Anderson Mitchell

McArthur Riedewald Schlupp

Ayew Benteke Zaha

When Schlupp has a good game we rarely lose.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.

This really needs a double post of day 1, and if everyone is healthy:

Day 1:

Guaita

Ward Tomkins Anderson Mitchell

McArthur Gallagher Schlupp

Ayew Benteke Zaha

Healthy:

Ward Tomkins Anderson Mitchell

Olise Gallagher Eze

Ayew Benteke Zaha

Although McArthur or Schlupp could replace Olise / Eze and they could move up. Also Guehi could replace Tomkins and Clyne/Ferguson could replace Ward.

The "healthy" side is so good they don't need a 'keeper!

As someone reminded me and being pedantic (like them) Gallagher won't be able to play against Chelsea first game.
