I can imagine that whatever style of play that we adoptPV will want players that are good at not giving the ball away cheaply.
Who have we got that fits.

I Think Kouyate will be center back and Captain

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

Captain? Not sure about him although might be an improvement on Luka (certainly hope he doesn't keep him as leader of the pack).

Hope he can help CB be more active on the pitch and strengthen his confidence.

Also want to see if he can make something of Mateta. At least they speak the same language.

I reckon Jairo will improve under him too.

The question is: which keeper will be his number 1?

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

No-one that I can think of stands out, they all seem to have a bad pass in them. Maybe Riedewald when he is having a good day and Eze when he doesn't try and beat the entire opposition. Jimmy Mc is tenacious and doesn't give the ball away in possession, but again his passing can be suspect. Let's hope PV doesn't put a massive emphasis on this.

Kouyate and Viera are good friends, Viera opened a academy in Senegal called Diambers, and Kouyate visited it a few times, Senegal is quiet close to lanzarote, all the lookie lookie men are from there i know a few get you a cheap Rolex

He'll like strong, dominant defenders and midfielders.
So I'd say he'll favour Luka and Cahill if he stays. I'd also hope, given the French connection, he might reinvigorate Sakho...but we'll have to see. And yes, the connection will work in Kouyate's favour I'm sure. Not sure about Jairo. They're vastly different players...not sure Jairo gets himself about enough or is committed enough in the tackle for PV. But hey, perhaps he could bring that out in him.

I could see Jay Rich-Baghuelou stepping up this season. A big presence and good with his feet, which is apparently something Vieira looks for in his centre-backs. Hannam may push Mitchell this season too, as he seems to get forward a bit more and has a bite to his game. Personally, I think either Kouyate will return to the middle of the park, or Vieira will bring someone in. Luka was poor in most games last season and if we're going to move beyond playing a low block we need someone with stronger running in them. Jairo suffered under Roy last season as he is clearly more suited to a possession-based game; if Vieira does continue to favour this model then that could help Riedewald.

Everything I've read suggests Vieira's preferred formation is 4-3-3, so we're not looking at an FdB revolution on that front. A lot will likely depend on the money available and how good PV is at adjusting his tactics to suit the players, rather than the other way round. Whatever happens the one thing we desperately need is more pace in the team, whether through promotions from the U23/18s, or transfers. This need for pace should also ensure Schlupp remains important.

Cahill, Kouyate, Riedewald, Eze, Zaha (if he stays), Mateta

Defensive solidity, more free-flowing everywhere else.

I think as i have said 4-1-4-1 is Vieira's Favorite, i think Rich-Baghuelou with Kouyate could be CDs, New RB needed, even though Ward has Extended, Luka the One if no new CD bought, if so Kouyate as the 1 and Captain, Midfield 4 needs overhaul. Schlupp, and Wilf wide( if he is still here and if he tracks back defensively, New CM a must, Maybe McArthur, or a surprise Ayew in CM, Matete as the one up top, with new CF bought, and in my opinion Benteke Loaned out with option to buy, hence 2 year extension, watch tis space

Madness to loan out our best striker. Benteke should and hopefully will lead the line for us come start of the season.
