Poor old Raheem. Thinks he should leave Man City because he 'wants happiness......and need to be enjoying myself'. Doesn't think Pep plays him enough.

I bet there are just a few on here who would give their eye teeth to be paid his salary to kick a ball around with their mates every day. How often do you get up in the morning and head off to work with a smile, whistling a happy tune?

Blimey, we'd all like to enjoy ourselves every day. I'm retired now, but when I had to earn a crust I can honestly say that not many days made me happy.

So, if you want a happy time mate, go to Fenerbahce. Their supporters would really make you welcome and bring you happiness.

Cor, don't know they're born do they?

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Weird post. Why aren't footballers allowed to want to play every week and make the most of their career?

Rather they would sit on the bench and just be happy to take their salary?

Working a career that made you miserable is a sad state of affairs by the way. Not everyone settles with being unhappy.

Has the insurance company, that provides medical cover for Galatasaray players, just increased the premium for foot-stamp injuries ?

Most premiership footballers could quit work tomorrow if they fancy it and will probably never have to work again.

Finding players with both the technical ability and desire are few and far between. The scarcity of the attribute combination is partly why they get paid so much.

If I got paid that much in my mid 20's I'd probably be dead.

nothing wrong with wanting to play regularly, some of them aren't only in it for the money obviously.

If I'm Sterling and not playing, I'd be worried about losing my place in the England team, ahead of what might be my last world cup.

City players know that they are going to face periods on the sideline, Pep is up front about that, but that doesn't mean it's for everyone.

sit on the bench every week at ( top 6 Prem club) or start every week for Palace.

It's a tough life for elite players.

This is the crux of it I think - if he came out and said "no, I'm perfectly happy sat on the bench at City earning £200k a week" he'd be slated for that as well.

People are just desperate to criticise.

Sterling is a bit stupid sometimes, but he’s incredibly underrated. My opinion is Pep is wasting one of England's best players by not using him. Look at his goal record for club and Country. Speaks for itself. Pep is a tool sometimes,as shown in the Champions Cup Final and other times. Sometimes brilliant, sometimes just wrong, Pep and Sterling seem quite similar psychologically.
Sterling at West Ham would really pose problems for teams like us. No doubt though, the timing of this fits in well with Newcastle takeover doesn't it?

Yep, maybe it was a wierd post of mine. Aren't they all?!

It just struck me this morning, reading articles in the press, that Sterling appeared more interested in his personal happiness than buckling down and fighting for his place in the team. Although he did say 'I need to be playing football'. Probably the slant I put on them.

He is, though, highly motivated by money. I remember him (most likely his agent) screwing a fabulous deal for him to leave Liverpool for Man City and now it looks like he's throwing his toys out of the pram to force another lucrative move.

As always, it's good to see the diverse views and opinions expressed on here by all you who bother to participate.

Maybe it should have occurred to crybaby Stirling that the reason he isn't getting game time is because he has been crap for months.
His England performances were papered over by a couple of tap ins and Pep can see that he is largely ineffectual.

Whining on TV about not playing just makes him look like a twit.

As if anyone was in doubt.

There was whole media fanfare when he left Liverpool for City, when the reality is it was a no-brainer career move at the time - City were a significantly better team, the same way Liverpool were significantly better when they bought him from QPR.

It's only because he left the media's darling club Liverpool that the whole narrative was built up and to this day he now has to carry a reputation, as evidenced above.

Guehi opted to join us and recently said "it was the appeal of playing Premier League football regularly that attracted me" - do you have a problem with that? and assuming not, what is the difference?

Presumably you made a similar post about Kane trying to force a move all summer? I don't recall seeing it

I'm not trying to have a go, but I think this is a really interesting example of the sort of unconscious biases with which we judge people - Sterling has a particular reputation now through years of media stories and is held to a completely different standard than nearly all other players.
