Would have thought a few on here might be affected by this new charge?

From the way she is standing and arm position, I would bet money that Ruth has her beloved child in a buggy - being pushed around with his head at exhaust pipe height!

How about if your kid has been to hospital 12 times ‘due to pollution’ move fin house .. so lorries , buses, vehicles over 3.5t are exempt ie all the big polluters. It’s a money making scheme where the poorest residents pay and the middle class get a new hybrid.

Would be a good idea, if there was a diesel scrapage scheme and the money raised was used to help people buy a greener vehicle.

Perhaps if Genghis Khan hadn't ground the traffic to a standstill in London we might have less fumes instead of everywhere engines idling.

I am all in favour of clean air but I think this is the wrong solution and too soon. Most people cannot afford electric cars or vans and the charging infrastructure is not there yet.

I live in a block of flats my neighbour wants to buy a new car but we have no charging points, yet.

In 5 years times I think electric cars will be the norm and air pollution should have reduced.

This is all about Khan trying to raise money for TFL however the people who he is hurting the most (poor) probably voted for him.

It has nothing to do with emissions. Its a tax to raise money.
I could have a 20 year old car spewing out 100 x more crap than a new car but as long as I pay mayor khant 12.50p. He will invite me in, no questions.
If he said £100 a day for that vehicle then I would agree its for the right reasons.
As for kids and breathing issues, as a poster highlighted the buggy 2 ft from the ground sucking on an exhaust is a lot different to the silver Cross style of yesteryear.
Maybe parents and convenience need to be looked at to start to change the effect on kids.

Good to see Mayor khan has not given in over this.

Thanks to him London's air is transformed, claiming to be the cleanest city more than New York or Paris with nothing like the billions they have spent.

A further 60,000 polluting vehicles will be removed thanks to this, and 4,000 premature deaths avoided, the quality of life cannot be measured.

Ask your Doctor what Khan has achieved, the difference in diseases related to air pollution, the NHS savings the unnecessary suffering of children.

Good riddance.

There must be a river somewhere you can pour sewage into, B.

Looks like you can do no more damage on this one.

Indeed. Load up the Range Rover Jemima. It's all fine. Those wretched poor people down the road are paying for it.
Serves them right for not buying a new car like us.

Khan's policies are destroying London so we will have clean air thanks to him and a lot of people will not have jobs.

Cleaner compared to what reading. Oh that would be the one 10 odd years ago when air pressure was the highest for years so a reading on that day was guaranteed to be the worst for years.
Is that what this clean air is measured against as your wind would be less polluted.

Hmm, Mums With Lungs. Sounds like the sort of campaign group I'd like to be involved with.

Amazing how the Environment has got so ultra-politically charged so rapidly.
And it's all about exploiting the working class with additional tax burdens.
