Click bait says that we have turned down a request from Charlton to take Morrison on loan. Apparently PV likes him and has added him to the first team squad.

If he gets game time then good for the lad however if all PV is going to do is sit him on the bench then Charlton would have been a better option.

I would be surprised to see him get much playing time as we have a lot of midfielders. PV maybe missing a trick here.

This may be a new policy as, historically, loaning out to the lower leagues did little more than result in selling out to the same leagues.

Thus, (and I'm guessing here) if a player is assessed and it is determined that he will be sold down, then expect to see such a loan.

If he is assessed as the nuts, then expect to see him retained and spending time with the First XI.

This kid is 17. The most he will get would be a sub role against Hartlepool if we are 3-0 up. However, he is now training with the First Team and playing in the U23 (not under eighteen) where the standard is high since our promotion.

The great Manure team under Fergie largely came through the youth ranks, won the youth cup and stayed together into the senior squad, albeit enriched with some notable additions. I hope that is now also our plan.

17 does seem very young to send him out on loan, I would say, even if it is just down to the local caravan park. The fact he is already around the first team must mean he's very highly thought of though. I saw Rak-Sakyi scored another great goal against Everton U23s. If he's not going to get minutes with the first team then I would have thought a Championship club would be interested in a loan. Given our position (i.e. not in a relegation fight at present) I would even advocate sending him to Norwich in an effort to help relegate Newcastle.

Just seen Pape Souare, Ben Watson, Stephen Henderson and Ryan Inniss are at Charlton, bit of a who's who of the Palace reserve side in recent years with Watson as the exception.

One of the benefits of the U23 Premier League is that it really is a good standard for the talented 17 year olds. I think it changes for the 19/20 year olds who you'd want to start getting some proper physicality and stepping up the level of opposition like O'Brien is now getting at Swindon to see if they really can make it. It's rare you see a teenager playing Premier League football anymore.

Can't imagine if he went to Charlton he'd start every week, so is 20 minutes here and there at Charlton better than training with our first team, playing his first full season of U23 football and getting the odd bit of travel time? Can see why they'd want to keep him at the club this season.

Living in a caravan isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Pape Souare - a member of the small club of players to have started an FA Cup final for Palace. Watson - a member of the much smaller club of Palace players to have scored the winning goal in an FA Cup final. Not for Palace though, sadly.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)
