I am paraphrasing the situation but from what I gather Germany are taking Italy to court to stop them auctioning off German owned state buildings in Rome, to pay compensation from the war.
Strange what money does to people, and countries apparently

Indeed. Are not Caribbean islands trying to sue the Royal Family for compensation over slave trade?

Shock, horror, surprise, EU members in crisis

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Apparently this was ruled on years ago that Germany had paid reparations and that Italian courts should now throw out claims against the German state but they are still accepting them and in some cases ruling against Germany.

This is a lawyers thing rather than a policial anti German thing.

As for the West Indies claiming compensation, fine as long as they accept that it will be a net figure. First the UK should deduct the billions in aid we have already given the islands over many decades.

Next we should deduct the cost of protection we provide policial and military etc.

Finally we should point out the hundreds of thousands who have resettled in the UK because their island was a colony. Those people have a better life in the UK which is why they came. That should also be taken into account.

It would be interesting to see what the net amount would be after that.
