Apparently Norwich will look to let him go according to the BBC gossip page.
If available what do people on here think.
He is primarily a right back isn't he?

He is yes, and I think he's a good player but also fear there may very well be a situation where myself, and many others, have somewhat built him up in our heads to be a 'right-footed Roberto Carlos', for one reason or another, and this may not mirror reality.

I certainly wouldn't frown upon his acquisition however were it a fee beyond £10-15million I would fear another costly & unsuccessful venture into the right-back market - I've been hurt too many times before to really trust anybody these days.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

They've been talking about a lot of money but he doesn't seem worth it. We won't be paying 40+ mil anyway. We'll probably renew Clyne and wonder if Ferguson will ever play. We've been linked to a cheap French right back - which sounds more likely.

IMO Aarons has been both over-hyped and over-valued these past couple of years or so. I can't see us paying out the kid of money Norwich will expect to receive. Instead, I see whatever transfer funds we have being spent on midfield players and another ball-playing CB. Clyne/Ward will be asked to fill the RB position until we see whether or not Ferguson will ever be fit enough an strong enough to play.

This

Clyne/Ward a good enough to hold the fort next season. If Ferguson comes good, then great. If not we can go into the market next Summer

Agreed though I think Clyne will make the RB spot his own now he seems to have recovered from the cruciate injury . He really is a top player that we would be mad not to tie up for a couple of years at least .

And we still need a striker

I agree Clyne has been very solid at RB. He's 31, not an obscenely 'old' age for an EPL player and is quite effective in attacks (the cut back cross to Eze for the goal on Saturday was excellent).

No panic in that department at the moment, but cover/competition would be a wise move.

I agree. The point I was trying to make was that between them we have the RB position covered for another year and as Wardy has shown he can do a reasonable job at LB if needed.

However, in an ideal world, where funds aren't an issue, we would be going for a young RB this window. It's just that I don't see it as a priority for this window.

Max Aarons sounds like a character in a Marvel comic.

Not for me. Clyne's name goes on the team sheet first and Ward is there as back up.

Clyne has improved a lot and Ward has been a great servant, but time and tide an' all that.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

The one downside of Clyne is that he is visibly uncomfortable on the ball under pressure. Not worried at all when he plays, but an upgrade is possible.

I'm not sure Aarons is it though. He's played a lot of games for his age at a decent level but he spends every other season being allowed to attack at will (which makes him look great), and the following season as part of a defence that gets absolutely battered. I can only possibly understand a £20m valuation in the context of AWB being £50m, but I think most would say United vastly overpaid there.

We've bought well in the last year, £20m is more than Guehi, Andersen, Olise, Eze.... I don't see Aarons being worth it.

10m fine. They won't sell for that so move on.

A pva without the positive contributions.
