Hi all I bumped into a Journo at SP today He tells me that the Dutch football magazine Santos is producing a London special, giving profiles of all the league and some non-league clubs in the capital. This chap will be doing what he calls the transpontine clubs (Welling, Charlton, Millwall, Bromley, the Hamlet and of course the Palace). The Palace piece will take up 8 pages. For each chapter we ask a local supporter for some advice and tips for Dutch football fans who visit game. Do you have any thoughts on pubs, restaurant for example to visit before or after the game? What is the best stand to see the game? He has to file his piece Friday night. Anyone wish to give me some good advice (don't even be tempted) to pass on to him? The obvious answer is pub, curry and Lower Holmesdale isn't it? Plus a visit to see the dinosaurs at Crystal Palace Park. If anyone is especially keen I will let you have his details if you PM me. I guess info on our other South London brethren may be helpful too.

Perhaps by asking on here they may be more successful. CP Park seems good idea. What about Tasty Jerk?

I guess info on our other South London brethren may be helpful too. My son and I were interviewed for a Dutch tv football channel, outside the ground prior to FDBs first game against Huddersfield. They asked about the local area, the support and what we thought of FDB, well in hindsight I would change my answer

For travelling fans it's very easy to stay in the Premier Inn in Croydon, next to railway station. They can then get bus to Selhurst, Norwood Junction, Thornton Heath on matchday.

Pre match drink and/or eat in Crystal Palace, the place, then walk, train or bus to stadium, allowing 40 minutes by whichever mode of transport you choose. Do NOT go to the National Sports Centre. I find drinking in the stadium soul crushing.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

We met a couple of Dutch lads in the bar near Norwood Junction after the Everton game the other season. They'd booked the trip a while previously because they wanted to see two Dutch managers against each other in the Premier League. Although it was quite early in the season both de Boer and Koeman had been sacked by the time we played each other so the only thing Dutch that they got to see was a pint of Oranjeboom.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

Post match restaurants would have to be in Crystal Palace triangle. Remember to get an Oyster card. Don't have any experience of hotels, but they can use google in Cloggy-land.
