Burnham now says there were massive failings by Manchester police over years of predominantly muslim abuse of vulnerable white girls on an industrial scale, still goes on.

Burnham say cultural change is needed, who needs to change?

This issue of raccially based mass sexual crime is still not something anyone will properly grasp for fear of being called racist

Burnham was part of the problem and is not part of the solution

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Becky has just provided a link to the BBC report on the findings of the report commissioned by Andy Burnham in another thread. Have you read that? I didn't read that he said there were "massive" failings or that "cultural change" is necessary. Is that reported elsewhere or is it your own interpretation of what he meant?

So much, by the way, for the BBC not reporting on this kind of thing.

Most of what is stated has been known for some while. That an under-resourced Police Force did not feel able to provide sufficient resources at the time to something which has subsequently been seen to be more serious than at first thought. Something which is now getting a more appropriate amount of attention with prosecutions resulting in convictions and more pending.

What isn't covered is whether there was any direction on how to handle this coming from central government and if so whether GMP are being made scapegoats.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

This is a transparent attempt by Burnham and Labour to spin the situation in an election year. I'm sure the BBC are happy to help.

More serious than first thought! Jeez Nothing to do with under funding, all about race relations, as has previously been acknowledged. But hey, they were only white female “losers”

Indeed, Burnham and those we see defending the response....who it might be added have said disgusting things on this topic....are part of the problem.

Those girls and their families still await accountability and they await real justice. The powerful and those responsible for justice are yet to face accountability for the terrible crimes they turned a blind eye to....crimes they knew were happening to 'underclass' white and some sikh girls and that are still happening today.

Credit where its due, without Andy Burnham the Hillsborough families were sunk after decades of the legal system.

Justice, recompense for victims may never come, they may be dead or just given up the ghost.

The Post Office, infected blood, Windrush, Hillsborough to name but a few, the system is weighed against the victims.

You should be ashamed of yourself making excuses for this.

Windrush does not belong on that list.

I heard an extremely frustrated sounding Maggie Oliver on 5Live with Naga Munchetty earlier. She was saying there is nothing in the report that she wasn't desperately trying to draw the Chief Constable's attention to 12 years ago.

She likened the 'deaf ears' response to that of the Post Office with the Horizon scandal. The elephant in the room is of course that all the men involved were Muslim and being labelled Islamaphobic must be avoid at all cost.

She resigned in frustration. She's continued to fight these vulnerable girls' corner ever since.

Again it takes a TV programme to get a reaction.

The establishment is looking ever more loathsome in this country.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

This is not about Hillsborough you muppet, you are beyond words

Absolute nonsense to suggest Burnham was solely responsible for Hillsborough outcomes.

He is the worst kind of band wagon jumper. Checks the wind direction then sounds off.

The establishment is looking ever more loathsome in this country.

Indeed.

They don't care about the principles involved in whatever happens.

All they care about is what the public thinks. It's why that the postmasters drama actually produced results....It's why the Times article on grooming produced results.

There was nothing in both these situations that the establishment didn't know or were aware of....for years...they just ignored it as did as little as humanly possible to draw attention to it.

This approach has always been true for an extent....But especially from Blair onwards....it's why these governments spend so much time and energy on courting media owners and outlets.....They lobby them to ignore or run with what is presented to the general public...the public get sold a fantasy of objective reporters and politicans....when instead what they get told is often a kind of 'spin' that has been decided wholly or in part by those it would affect....often depending upon a 'you scratch my back situation' or the political attitudes of those involved....It's an industry that whole comedy series have previously touched on.

It is political low life behaviour and it's the norm on both left and right.

It's a problem with the type of people that secular nihilism produces.....we get the neo/social liberal version of it.....but a lack of care to the extent of disregard for objective truth over spin or filtering out is dangerous in whatever political landscape it exists within.
