Stand outs against West Ham…..
The sublime 60 yard plus cross field pass to Zaha in the first half and in turn the instant control by him.
His open play marking of Antonio including the ‘throw down’ at the end which Pawson
deemed wasn’t booking worthy.

His overall positive contribution to the team in general.
Well done Joachim!

Funny I see a fall in pass quality and a lot of mistakes creeping in. I suppose it is testimony to his quality that there has been a small slide and he is still candidate for POTY.

He went through a difficult patch after the World Cup but in my opinion has returned to top form and that includes his passing.

Do we consider pushing him up into a DM position? His range of passing ability is surely up there?

He does make exquisite passes but often under no pressure when the opposition are not engaged in a 'Press'.I accept his long range passing accuracy to the flanks is admirable.

Playing in central defence with the play in front of one is totally different from playing in midfield.Whilst I admire Andersen's passing prowess, in my humble opinion he lacks the mobility to be effective in a defensive midfield role.

Spot on Willo. Andersen is NOT a DM type player IMO. He is better left where he is. In any case if we were to move him forward we would need to buy another CB (centre back NOT Christian Benteke).

Absolutely brilliant footballer ,passing first class and sees whats in front of him in getting us up the pitch .

Needs to work on his defensive decision making and be more assertive .(like claiming the near post on Saturday) Niether him nor Guehi seem to want to be 'the man' which leads to some indecision . I think if one of them took control both would become better for it .

And we still need a striker

They are both very much what one might term 'Modern-day centre-halves' good with the ball to feet etc, but far removed from the dominant no-nonsense central defenders of yesteryear.

Reading the play, covering and intercepting is one aspect of the role but at corner kicks there are physical tussles and one needs to get one's head to the ball.
The opposition invariably make first contact with the ball when we are defending corners.

Im not saying he should turn into Andy Linighan just to be responsible for the defensive unit .Maybe Im a bit of a football dinosaur but there doesn't seem to be a lot of shouting at each other apart from when Wilf got subbed (lol)

If he was faultless he wouldnt be playing for us. Perfect for a club like us.

True enough.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
