Peter Nicholas joined us for a while one night. Had trouble understanding his Welsh accent, but he was good company.

Another night they raffled a bottle of Scotch in there. As the winner walked back, a bloke called Podge (never knew his real name) tried to take it from him. Naturally the fellow didn't agree with the idea, so Podge whacked him. In the ensuing melee, a stack of crates toppled over on them. The bloke kept his whiskey but got battered before they were seperated. Podge was all class.

We are the goon squad and we're going to town. Beep Beep!

I can remember way back when there use to be fund raising and bingo in the old building in the car park, organised by Bert Wait,Arthur's Brother.
Prior to that the Supporters Club arranged coaches for away matches at very reasonable rates. There were also,in the early 60s,other evenings in the Glaziers Club we had some great evenings in there with Charlie Jordan,Simons Grandad, getting things arranged.
It wasn't expensive and we all felt part of the club in a modest but very family orientated, everyone at the Palace, including players, were easily accessible to all, unlike today!

........................Then along came Johnny Byrne! and the rest, as they say, is history.....................
