Nice one Isobel! I hate it when im at school and everyone is talking about Man U and Chelsea and i just say Palace are a real team not Man U or Chelsea rubbish. Then i ask 'so how many matches have you been to?' and then they say none! Glory Hunters. They should all be supporting their local team. I guess its ok if they were born in Manchester and then move away, because you use to live there.

Oh also. I started bring my friend to Palace and he supported Man U and now he is a Palace game. Im bringing him to the Swansea game aswell. So after that it would have been his 5th game

Nice to see some young fans doing well out there. Wish my daughter would write about Palace but she is embarrassed by it - she doesn't realise how much more pocket money she would get by humouring me!
You are a credit to your family, Isobel.

That actually brought a tear to my eye. It's nice to see someone who's proud of their club at such a young age.

Brilliant stuff Isobel. You are a credit to your family and Crystal Palace FC.

My son has just turned 9 and has been coming to Selhurst with me since he was 3 years old. We live in West London - QPR territory - so it's even harder for him to be a proud Palace fan, but he manages very well, just like you!

Your essay was very well written and makes it easy to understand what supporting Palace is all about...keep it going and up the Palace!!

my boy is 8 and although we live in Brighton, he has taken Palace to his heart from an early age.

He wears the red and blue with pride at his after school footy practice amongst all the seaweed shirts and understands just like the OP that glory hunting is not an option.

Any kid who chooses to follow the eagles out of their own choice whether it be their local team or through family tradition deserves respect. Its not easy, but it's ultimately more rewarding in the long run!

A brilliant piece of writing!

A career in journalism beckons me thinks. Maybe you could write for the Mail as it will be the first time anyone from there has written anything positive about Palace!

Pinch me, I'm dreaming, but if it is don't let me know.

Brilliant essay, well written too. I remember my college days when the mere sight of my Palace shirt would warrant taunts from the glory-hunting Man Utd and Liverpool fans, but i always put them in their place with the usual "have you ever seen them play" question and they would always shut up.

None of said glory hunters were from Manchester or Liverpool, all the more reason for me to be proud of supporting Palace!

Every time some muppet (eg slerpy) starts a thread about Burley Out, all of us should copy and paste this thread's original post onto a PM and send it to him/them.

11 years old......

Hopefully the muppets will now be ashamed of themselves.

My boy is 8 and supports Palace. Unfortunately he lives in Nottingham and i now live in Boro. We have both picked up the Palace 'bug' from family. My parents are both from Lewisham!! It only seemed natural to pass the Palace tradition on to him. He wears his colours with pride and passion. Problem being tho, that because we both live so far away from Selhurst,we don't get to many home games, but we do go to plenty away... Last seasons games at Derby at Shef Wed will long live in both out memouries!!

Ps....Great bit of work...A+ all the time.
