If Howe is sleeping on it tonight I hope he's thinking the following... 1. Charlton think they are better than they are, anything but promotion this season will be seen as a failure. 2. It'll be a lot easier to keep Palace up, than get Charlton promoted - their team isn't even that good a side (compared to Leeds in League One last season and Southampton this season) and there's a lot of tough competition in that league; Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield, Peterborough, Bournemouth, Brighton etc. We are 1 point adrift from safety, they are 5 points off an automatic spot. 3. Even if he got Charlton promoted, they'll expect to be fighting for promotion in the Championship. 4. He'll be given time at Palace, as we have realistic, but ambitious chairmen who know that the Premiership isn't round the corner. 5. He'll have familiarity with the club in that we escaped relegation and exited administration last season, alike to Bournemouth the season before. 6. Bournemouth fans won't take kindly to him leaving for a promotion rival, who are BEHIND them in the league. He therefore is a lot more likely to keep his reputation with the fans in tact by joining a club in a higher league. 7. Palace play in the CHAMPIONSHIP, Charlton play in LEAGUE ONE.
