From being on the blog most of the day hearing how charlton can offer this and that, have they actually been told by the new chairman how much money they have available for the club (at the very least a guide on what they can afford)? I just find it hard to believe how Charlton fans think they are better of than us. We are in a higher league and even though were struggling we wont go down as it's palace and we always have rollercoaster seasons. Can't see it being all down hill. I don't mind if Howe does not decide to come to us. Ok he may have taken a while to come to a decision which has cost us time in the transfer window, but it seems like Parish and co are calm about the whole matter, so i will have faith with the consortium. Like to finish on a good note and say even if Howe was to go charlton, no good players would go to them apart from old rivers from the championship who can't hack it or half decent lower league players. I would love to put a bet on now even if Howe was to go Charlton they would at the very most make playoffs and i doubt they would win it. Best bet is if he does not want to come to Palace then stay at Bournemouth and it wouldn't surprise me if they came up through the playoffs anyway. Edited by baldeagle88 (11 Jan 2011 12.06am)

Just watched Palace Sheffield Wednesday highlights again. Incredible. We need that siege mentality again. Could Howe give us that? What struck me was how we had such a key defensive presence. Our defensive players all linked well, Hill, Butterfield, McCarthy, Derry, even Lawrence. McCarthy is the only one left and is exposed too often. We need someone who can come up with a solution for that. If we don't we're going down I think. Anyway, majorly off topic. Basically feel that it's no biggie if Howe turns us down, I'd love to see Paul Hart or Dougie just concentrate on keeping us afloat for now and think about a permanent appointment in summer.

In my opinion the way Dougie has conducted himself since Burley was shown the door, just shows how much Palace means to him, whilst the will he or wont he saga over Howe continues, our Doog has just kept his head down and got on with the job in hand. Let Dougie have a go at the job and bring someone in alongside him for support.

I'd love to see dougie given the chance to give it a go - i heard this evening that we were talking to rochdales manager - if we're going to that level, why not give dougs a break? He cant do any worse, and the fans would still back him whatever.......by the way - 73 pages - fantastic!!

I would like to see Dougie given a chance but like you said he would deffiantly need someone with experience to give their opinion. Someone like Coppell or Hart would be good at this, but unsure if a manager or at least a high experience assistant would be willing to. Any thoughts on who would like to take backroom roll to help Dougie?
