I just find it a little astonishing that people already, without anything concrete, come on here telling CPFC2010 how to do their jobs.

I'm sure they'll be the first to hold their hands up if they feel they wasted their time pursuing Howe and the first to say IF they haven't anyone else lined up and whether that was intentional or not.

The way I see it, is that Syd was saying 2010 are learning how to run a football club.
They hired and fired Burley within 6 months.
They then went for Howe who was available six months ago.
Do not know who they are after now.
And If I was Dougie I would be pissed off.
As for Kember he had a crack at it and failed with a far superior squad to what we have now.

"Without anything concrete"? You are joking, aren't you? Both Alan and I are reacting to the immensely and viscerally concrete fact that we don't have a manager, and we haven't bloody had one for over a week. How much more concrete do you want?

You are one of the most articulate posters on here so why take what I wrote out of context and why react apone the same principles as some of the more rash childish posters?

I said there was nothing concrete to say CPFC2010 don't have others lined up and that unless you can prove otherwise, maybe give CPFC2010 a bit more respect.

I don't see Dougie and Kember as managerial 'insurance policies',infact i'm suggesting that CPFC2010's judgement may be better than we realise and that others who have applied have not made the cut.

There are other rumours suggesting that SP pulled the plug on the deal before EH stuck with The Cherries(as he'd asked for more time). This means either SP thought 's*** we've got to start looking and fast' OR that he knows we have others who made it through the first interview process but were not as priority as EH and are on standby for the job(maybe being contacted as we speak).

I just wouldn't expect someone such as yourself to appear to panic quite so quickly considering(with all due respect)that you really do not know what is going on.

I agree with yours and others sentiments about CPFC2010 and you might be right.yes they are still learning and yes they may be chasing shadows and running out of options but until it IS concrete, why not remain calm?it's only been a few hours?

1/6/2010.a new era.we made it everyone!!!lets get the ball rolling for another 105 years of proud history.thank you cpfc2010.

Surprised there has still been no official announcement by CPFC2010. Looks bad when nothing is said, gives the impression that they've been caught unaware and there is no plan B or C. If this is the case, I can only once again suggest we should give the Doog the job as soon as possible and give him the greatest possible scope of using the transfer window successfully.

Think we should give them a chance! They are all successful business men that love Palace and have our best interests at heart.

They are still learning how to run a football club so whatever they do is for the best for Palace.

In CPFC2010 we trust.

I'm not being funny but when there was half of us against Burley and the other half for Burley there was one thing we ALL agreed on - we need a striker capable of 10-15 a season, a gritty holding midfield player and a reliable centre-back.

Those were bare-minimum requirements that a new manager would expect and would then want to add his own personal touches to.

So if that's the case why are we fannying around letting all the good transfers go when I'm sure you could find those 3 requirements not only easily but without searching. There must be a lot of those types of players that are listed for loan in the Premiership and possibly on-sale in the Championship. With the exception of a 10-15 a season striker but at least a fast, pacey striker with a decent record.

Get Kember, Doogie and the board to actively look to sign those players, get as far forward as possible in the negotiations and then if all falls through with managers we have the players we need.

If we sign a centre back, midfielder and striker and then a manager comes in he can send a couple of Burley's loanee's back if he requires and buy other positions if he personally has his own targets.
We could get Jose Mourinho on the 31st of January at midnight and still be screwed if no one is signed.

And you can't exactly say we shouldn't be stepping on the new managers toes considering we still signed Iverson despite Burley's departure a day later.

Watching our new board learn on the job how football works is proving to be a painful experience. While we should back them, they do need to start learning rather more quickly than they appear to be doing at present. Furthermore, in any industry (not just football), it is basic prudence and sound management that you don't make a change (thereby creating a problem) until you have the solution at hand (look at Ipswich: Jewell had clearly been lined up at the time Keane departed.)

The present situation is a mess; nearly halfway through the transfer window, no manager, little direction, and a team in the drop zone. It is, though, a mess entirely of our own making. The board needs to improve its performance almost as much as the team do theirs.

Why do you assume Ipswich have done the right thing? Just because they got a manager it doesnt mean they got the right manager. In my mind it makes more sense to spend a bit longer opening a few doors to see whats inside than putting everything into the first.

We did actually win our last league game, I dont see how everything is as dire as you make out.

Unbelievable. You really have totally missed the point. The issue isn't whether Ipswich got the right manager or the wrong manager. Only time will tell, and anyway, that's got nothing to do with it. The point is that the Ipswich board had a clear plan, they acted on it, and as a result the disruption caused by Keane's departure was minimised. While the yawning chasm at the top of the Palace tree remains open, hamstringing us in the transfer market in the process, Ipswich had their man in place within 48 hours and are now merrily heading forward down their chosen path. I know which example looks the more competent to me.

Lastly, waiting two weeks no more guarantees you'll hire the right manager than waiting 2 minutes.

I think you may have missed the point but whatever...

Okay to counter in a different way, Ipswich lose their next 6 games straight. Are they still to be praised for acting so quickly or do we question why they didn’t take longer to explore more options? Surely then they become the mess and we look good for sitting on our hand? My point was hindsight changes all and, you've stated nothing but an opinion on how you think a situation should be handled, praised the team that handled it in that fashion then used it against our own situation and then disguised it as fact and / or a thinly veiled prediction on what you think will happen because of it.

I am just trying to point out that situation a is vary rarely comparable to situation b and to do so (like you have) lacks foresight, and perspective.

I knew he would stay with Bournemouth, dont think he has the bol**x to leave them. Really wanted him to join though, only real person out there that I want is Coppell or Hughton. Not others really make me satisfied.

What Syd is saying is that Ipswich had Jewell lined up.
They then sacked Keane.
And have now brought Jewell in.
Can continue on there merry way and might /might not win or lose there next six games.

We appear to have sacked Burley with no one lined up.
However we could still win/lose our next six games.

Mind you from what I saw at Coventry our prospects Saturday are poor.

The main thing that annoys me is that I spent the last few days chumming up to Eddie Howe on Football manager just to find out he's not even joining.
