Eddie Howe - Staying at AFC Bournemouth - or is he?

EM said "Well he was on the train but I dragged him off" Sky presenter said "Really?!!!" He has a slightly warped sense of humour As an outsider, for what it's worth, I think you could do worse than take your Dougie on. It's very similar to the situation we had with Eddie 2 years ago and it's worked out pretty well for us. He may not have managerial experience, nor did Eddie, but he knows your club inside out and that gives him a huge advantage. Do the players all like Dougie as much as the fans seem to? That could be key....

If he was that loyal he wouldn't of even had the interview with us. His track record speaks for itself, i feel its just an ego thing with him, Let's move on and give the job to Dougie, a man who knows what loyalty is really about.

Dougie has massive respect amongst players and fans alike. Ideally, I'd have like him to learn for a bit longer under George Burley, but it was not to be. Similarly to Eddie Howe, Dougie is was a loyal player, and an intelligent player who read the game very well (albeit from a different position on the pitch). Having missed out on Howe, and a good chunk of the transfer window, I'd very much like to see him given the chance - maybe with some experienced additions to the coaching staff to follow and support him (but not a Director of Football - I think the manager MUST be boss in this country).

When Bournemouth gave Howe the job, they were in a similar situation to the way we are with Dougie, i.e. he knows the club, loves the club and YES he is a risk. I think, a risk worth taking.

It may for all you and I know have been weeks that the club has been searching for a manager, and only decided to pull the trigger on Keane once they'd found one who would agree to take the job. Thus, we cannot conclude with any degree of certainty that they acted quickly at all. Of course, it is possible that they did and it all happened from scratch over the weekend, but WE DO NOT KNOW THAT AND THE EVIDENCE DOES NOT PROVE IT. There. Got it?

A very good point, who's to say he would be any good at another club, i say we may well have had a lucky escape, let him stay at Bournemouth and be a hero to their fans, We've got our REAL hero, For me, Dougies the man !!

Yes, there are similarities between Palace now and Bournemouth when Eddie Howe took over, but they are not absolutely comparable. I don't know the exact situation, but they I think they were in League 2 with 17 points deducted and with probably rather fewer managerial replacement options than we have. I also think that Eddie Howe had had some previous coaching experience at Bournemouth. I'm not sure that Dougie has had any significant previous coaching/managerial experience.
