my speculative timeline:

- Howe tapped up earlier in the week, agrees to take job in principle
- tips a couple of mates, hence the big bets and betting suspended
- makes the usual sounds about focusing on the next game but remains evasive on future and does not rule it out to soften the impact on the fans
- 'official' interview today to tie up the fine details
- takes charge for final farewell game tomorrow
- news comes out over the weekend he's taken the job
- press conference 11am at Selhurst monday

Would love this to be true and would be a great start to the week but the cynic in me is telling me to not get hopes up.

A little bit more proof for those non-believers

So Sky are saying one thing and CPFC2010 another.

As I said on another thread, yes SP may have said that a decision wont be made until next week but if he impressed them so much today and other clubs are coming in to try and steal him from underneath our nose, then they aren't going to say "he's our man but we've said to the fans that a decision won't be made until next week so we won't decide yet." They will offer it earlier and finalise it next week at some point.

Now that would make sense!!

CPFC2010 will obviously keep their cards close
to their chest, so the 'next week' thing is a
bit of a red herring.

EH sounds a perfect match on paper for what we
realistically have to offer, and his experience
with Bournemouth where he has to make ends meet
will undoubtedly stand him in good stead should
he choose us.

A new era, stability, its all exiting stuff even
for us long enough in the tooth to remember the
team of the eighties !!. A young brash manager with
a young and hungry team. Ring any bells ??.

Keeping everything crossed, and no matter what our
fate is to become this season, if EH does join us
we MUST support him and the board 100%. There is a
mountain to climb still, and Rome wasnt built in
a day.

Guess I'm playing wishful thinking a bit but would be great if he's made his mind up to come. I'm puzzled why it seems more concrete with us compared to other roles he's had the chance to take - could only think that if he's been a Bournemouth man through and through then he will know better than anyone how much further he can take that team in the light of them selling some of their better players recently. Maybe that was a final straw and the Palace offer came at the right time for him and was sold excellently (got no doubt about that) by Steve Parish.

I know it's all conjecture but fingers crossed he's our man next week.

Yep, but so was the 4-3 and the third
place finish in the top flight all those years ago.

I must say im getting good vibes as a Palace
supporter again after so many years of struggle.
Probably my being over optimistic (which isnt a
trait im known for, especially where Palace are
concerned). Just got a good feeling about what
CPFC2010 are about, and their increasing that
good feel factor day by day.

I hope Mr Howe comes to Palace its a chance for him to show his mettle on a big stage and gives us a chance to rebuild escape relegation and move forward.
Personally i,d ignore the betting odds as a big bet on a managerial appointment can be as little as 50 quid to move the market significantly and that info comes straight form a bookies mouth.

Plus they re-opened the markets yesterday, with VC going 1/3. If you were in the know that would have still been wiped off the boards. It was just punters quickly reacting to the news we'd made the approach to speak to him.

I really hope we do get EH, not only for the fantastic job he's done at afcb but it'll make my user name not look so silly. (picked it years ago when I didn't know how these computer message board thingys worked)

Eddie Howe, would be a great choice, and my personal favourite, but were Chris Coleman or Gareth Southgate on the shortlist?

I'm just glad you decided to add three more sixes at the end.

Steve Parish said that Southgate wasn't,he's concentrating on his TV Sports work, don't know about Coleman though.
