Funnily enough, one of my strongest memories of that night for some reason was the ball being played across their 6 yard box and Steve Kember sliding in just missing putting in No.3.

I was in the Whitehorse and remember queing up for what felt like ages to get in. Also have a memory of the 1979 FA Cup Final programmes - Arsenal v Man U - being sold outside the ground.

I was there in the Athur Waite corner next to the Holmesdale. Fantastic night unbelievable crowd & atmosphere and the beer certainly went down well after the game.

Its hard to get across how magical that night was.

Whatever the official attendance says there must have been more than 60k who saw that game both inside and outside the ground by clambering on roofs and such.

It was probably the only time my dad left home early to get there and I canm remember the buzz coming up Thicket Road in Anerley...amazing night

I was there aged 14 and the only things I remember was the sheer enormity of the crowd when squeezing into the Holmesdale behind the goal and it was only 6.25, and Walshy's goal and drinking fizzy pop in celebration. That's it. A minute's worth of memories in the biggest night in Selhurst Park's history. What the fvck happened to the other 3 hours?

Becuase we were all happy and did not have a bunch of mornic incompetent coppers in charge of safety. . .

Not that I would want to point a finger at those in charge on the day...

I was there, remember gates were closed an hour before kick off. Was in the Holmsdale and saw hundreds climbing over walls/gates into the Whitehorse.

The surges in the Holmsdale were incredible, you could hear the feet moving sounded like thunder.

I was walking near a guy on way home after match and he said "i dont remember the day I got married but will remember this forever".....I will to.

i was there i was 18 and got to the ground about 5.30 in the holmesdale i took one of my younger brothers.the holmesdale was rammed at that time we could hardly move.i remember the p"ss cascading down the terrace because you had no chance of getting to the toilet.you could see thousands outside the ground after kick off through the gap between the Whitehorse and old stand.there was a massive banner in the Whitehorse saying the eagles have landed .it was an amazing night i will never forget.i went on my first ever foreign holiday next day to benidorm so bought all the papers to take with me we were all over the back pages and some of the front ones too .topped up in a bar full of manx and arse for the cup final and got a massive cheer when they found out i was a palace fan HAPPY HAPPY DAYS

Me and my mate went straight from school and stood in the Main Stand, got to the ground around 5 ish and had a position right at the front. The view of the Holmesdale was awesome. A one off memory that I will carry to my grave.
Ironically, the mate I went to that game with i'm meeting in Peterborough next Saturday, so if any old timers fancy a meet up, name a pub.

Was there at front of Holmesdale as a 16 year old,
Will never forget my ribs getting crushed countless times during game, was amazing to be on the pitch at the final whistle knowing we had robbed BHA of the title made it all the more sweeter
Amazing times at the Mighty Palace!

This clip makes me feel so old i still get goose bumps everytime I watch it, crap noise at begining but it gets better

Also some great other clips from Stu, I love watching the Blackburn game clips at Selhurst as well
