Can I just for the record say that I love a good pitch invasion and I think it should be mandatory for the last game of the season regardless of happiness, sadness or in our case this year not-a-lot-ness.

It was a wonderful tradition when I was young. Last home game and no matter what the score nor season we had had thousands of us would invade and congregate below the Directors Box singing and demanding to see our heroes. All good natured. When football was a bit more fun and less anal (ignoring the hooliganism)

Yeah I thought it was hilarious when the f*cking idiot Palace "fans" ran on to the pitch at Hillsbrough!! Soon ran off quick enough after though didn't they?

They blew any chance we had of celebrating an epic season with our players.

Do it. Run on the pitch. Get banned from Selhurst. I'll laugh. Silly tw*t.

My first ever trip to Selhurst ended in an end-of-season pitch invasion - when we beat Utd 3-0 in '91 just before they won the Cup Winners Cup final. I loved it, and took home a piece of turf with me!

I was also invovled in the last ever legal pitch invasion at Lords, when we took 17 wickets on the third day to beat pakistan. It was generally accepted that you'd invade the pitch before the presentations back then. I can see why they outlawed it - but it made for a cracking occasion.

The Three Twerps were one twerp short... again!

The last two I remember were... Birmingham last game of the season 89(!) and I'm sure it was the year before too. Last game of the season again and I'm sure we needed to win and Man City to lose or draw, to get promotion. Or did we play and beat City 2-0? Can't remember! If my memory IS right, the announcer was a Mil.. fan and said whoever it was had drawn! We was all on the pitch happy we'd gone up, until we realised we hadn't! Grrr

I haven't got my programmes round me to know what happened in them years, to jog my memory, but I'm sure that's something like what happened!

51,000+ in the ground and Palace champions, promoted to division one.

If Carlsberg did pitch invasions............

I remember THAT Man City game. I was in the Arthur when Andy Gray scored a great free kick, from a very long way out. It seemed to be in the air for ages before it hit the back of the net at 100mph!

For nostalgic purposes only - my favorite invasions were:
1. QPR away - god knows when or the score - sometime in the 90's.
2. Stockport away - long live the Doog - amazing, I was in the Stockport end and just made a dash for it, over the barrier and into the Palace fans - never forget a Palace fan thinking I was Stockport running to give him a clump until he got a nice big cuddle and a pat on his bald nut
3. Last game of the Holmesdale Terrace (Actually wasn't that bothered as I'm an Arthur Waiter)
4. Sunderland play-off - not a big one, but I was one happy chap

As someone previously said, it should be a tradition - get a chance to zip around where your hero's play. Doesn't have to be all hooligan.

1-0 to QPR, think it was the quarter finals of the FA cup. Clive Allen scored on the Astro-turf. Final whistle went and all Hell broke out on the pitch
