Likud MP. Nutter.Words fail me too, just like I am sure they failed you when you read the HAMAS Charter. So, now we know....the situation has some "extremists" with some bonkers views.

Alas it seems that the extremists are pulling the strings on both sides. Which is why I posed the earlier question about a lack of intervention from the leaders of the rest of the world. I'd almost argue that by doing nothing, they too are complicit in this genocide. And yes it is genocide because the killing is indiscriminate.

Nick, this is crazy to be arguing about because I think there is more that unites us than divides us.But it is not genocide . It is, however, in my view, brutal oppression. See prior postings by others. What "we" did in Iraq involved some indiscriminate killings (more than some).Bloody Sunday involved indiscriminate killing on a small scale. Shooting down the plane in Ukraine was indiscriminate killing; it wasn't genocide. If we use terms like "genocide" or "holocaust" all the time, it devalues the words.

Because they are under occupation. Until that ends... Well you can't really blame them.

Now that is an excuse for Hamas right there.

Also, their manifesto calls for the killing of all Jews...It doesn't say....When we are no longer occupied we'll ease off a bit.

Utter utter b*llocks.

So presumably Fatah in the west bank just aren't quite doing enough.

Amazing.

So the Palestinians should welcome the 'settlers' with open arms?

What are you talking about? Once again.

The settlers are in the west bank.....Not Gaza.

Hamas does not control the west bank.

What happens to the settlements will eventually be decided not by what is happening now.....It's a non issue in terms of this Israel-Hamas fight.

The settlers are in Palestinian territory. The Palestinians are one people. I bet you opposed the Argentine occupation of the Falklands.
Regardless of this, Israeli military actions in Gaza are barbaric and inhumane. They are murdering innocents. Bottom line. Anyone who supports this is complicit.

Your reading of the situation is far removed from what motivates the different mindsets of Hamas and Fatah.

Please understand that Hamas aren't firing rockets because of what Israel are doing to Fatah controlled west bank. They are fighting Israel because of the blockage and these tit for tat murders......Their listed demands for a cease fire should make that clear.

If they were one people Israel would be bombing the west bank right now.

I answered your statement defending Hamas's approach against Israel. Now you are expanding the discussion to what seems to be silly ideas for why Israel are in Gaza right now.

You really do believe any old crap don't you Nick.

So to do this basically Israel have to boot Hamas out of Gaza forceably. Otherwise they can't control the oil fields.

These claims aren't realistic for Israel.

If you are going to make claims such as these you really need to stand by them. Hence for this to happen Israel will stay in Gaza.

So I expect you're standing by this claim then Nick?

Gaza elected Hamas. Their manifesto is a document for continual war with ceasefires for tactical reasons.

No one.....let me repeat that, no one in the west or the middle east is going to get involved between Israel and Hamas.

Interesting ,it had not occurred to me. Not quite sure, the present bombing/incursion can be put down to gas reserves, but clearly the Israelis won't be indifferent to the existence of gas reserves, neither will various others, separate to the inhabitants of Gaza. The article says:

"Israel has made successive discoveries in recent years - such as the Leviathan field estimated to hold 18 trillion cubic feet of natural gas - which could transform the country from energy importer into aspiring energy exporter with ambitions to supply Europe, Jordan and Egypt.

The chief obstacle is that much of the 122 trillion cubic feet of gas and 1.6 billion barrels of oil in the Levant Basin Province lies in territorial waters where borders are hotly disputed between Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Gaza and Cyprus".

Where there is gas, a lot of interested snouts will be sniffing about eager to get something out of the trough.

They are trying to use military force to get rid of a democratically elected Government. If they want rid of Hamas, surely it would make sense to keep some sort of infrastructure in place in order that new elections could take place in the near future!

Is it?

Did Tony Blair have a manifesto stating continual war with a neighbour then?

I must have missed that part.

Is that an answer? What infrastructure? I don't understand what that means.

Do you stand by your claim?....you posted the links....That Israel intend to stay in Gaza so that they can control gas reserves and that's their motivation.

As for a democratically elected government....Yeah, they won elections and then suspended them. Hamas haven't allowed elections and they won theirs in 2006.....Eight years with no democracy.
