Showing this game from our 79 promotion season on ITV4's Big Match revisited this weekend. It's shown a few times, starting 6.50am Saturday I think. Chance to see some real legends in action (and compare to today's team)

Toilets rolls on the pitch; the old stand enclosure; the wonderful Whitehorse Lane terrace; Jerry Murphy and Vince Hilaire on song.

It was the best of times.

Great game. I was in the Whitehorse Lane end. Hilaire on fire - very Wilf-like. Needed a great goalscorer, but loved Swindlehurst and Walsh at the time.

Seem to remember the game away at Orient was also on the Big Match. Few weeks after this I think - remember going to that as a 15 year old. Them were the days

Great. Kember, Sansom, Swindlehurst, etc plus the incomparable Budgie Burridge in goal. The result meant we stood 4th with two to play and it was the last home match before the memorable game v. Burnley (and record attendance) when we needed a point to go up with Stoke and Brighton. Unfortunately the Burnley match was on a Tuesday so unlikely to be on the Big Match Revisited.

The game was on a Friday. I don't know why they said Tuesday on The Big Match ?

2nd half highlights here. We were sardined into the away end. Great goal from Swindle from a Kenny Sansom cross. Mental scenes on the terraces. 5/5/1979. Enjoy.
