This thread made me laugh.

The real subject here should be how you should never expect your heroes to be any more than human and fallible.

I suppose we should start another thread on what might have happened if we had not declared war on Germany.
That should be good for some serious butterfly effect.

'Nice' people don't make good leaders in times of crisis. You need someone who is able to make tough decisions and follow them through. The world saw him as an unshakable character, a modern (at the time) British Bulldog.

I challenge you to name a single politician in today's government who could have pulled the country through such a horrific war. I wouldn't have faith in a single bloody one of them.

Gandhi? Iron will and a decent pleasant fellow by all accounts.

An utter c*nt, apparently.

As Trigger said, made on decent film and then you never heard of him again.

During the First world War, WC was First Lord of the Admiralty until the disastrous Gallipoli Campaign caused his departure from government. That was a major fck up.
However, he later continued active service with the army in WW1. WC had massive testicles.

He was the right leader at the right time in WW2.

I imagine the best of us would make the occasional fck-up in a turbulent world

You have omitted that during WW1 from 1917 Churchill was Minister of Munitions his job to deliver the weaponry to win the war which he did.

Good to see Donald J Trump has reinstated his bust into the Oval Office after Obama had it removed during his tenancy.

Apparently that's why he stooped so much and had trouble moving around, delivering weapons and munitions is heavy lifting.

Politicians - claim responsibility for others hard work, and then blame everyone else when it goes wrong.

He didn't personally deliver them as anybody would know.

During the war (ww2) I heard lots of anti Churchill remarks..the standard comment being every time Churchill opens his mouth we get bombed.

He was a flawed individual but the right man for the job at that time.
