"Palace fans made the game enjoyable, sound-wise. I was singing along with them, haha. Definitely put our home fans to shame, that's for sure."

Probably a bit unfair to tarnish all Chelsea supporters on the basis of this jackass's blog, but he is representative of an attitude held by a segment of fans that all the big clubs have

That is, a sneering, look down your nose, your not fit to lick our boots attitude that is directed at the "tradesmen" of the Premier League i.e. those smaller teams who don't have billions to throw around, aren't full of foreign imports, have to use what resources they have diligently, and aren't the live feature on Sky each week.

We may not be pretty but we gave Chelsea a damn good run for their money at Stamford Bridge, and, on Saturday - well we all know what happened then. The proles gave their lordships a good kick up the rear end.

As it happens, I was sat next to a family of Chelsea supporters on the train home and they were a really decent bunch.

This is how one of them justifies us supporting the team through thick and thin, Amazing...so glad we could ram it down their throats.

"First of all silence the crowd,oh wait a minute you cant as they are all a bit simple and sing sh*t songs whatever the scoreline.Same starting 11 as the Arse game with Torres in for Eto,o if he is unfit.I know we have PSG the next week but we really need to win this one first.COME ON YOU BLUES!"

I don't know why everyone gets so upset and bothered when other fans don't like us?

Are they all supposed to love us? I'm pretty sure you won't find too many good words said about Chelsea fans on here - and I bet they couldn't care less.

Most of the 'proper' Chelsea fans I know are decent.

Stop trawling the internet looking for what people are saying about us. Saturday we got behind the lads - job done.

I live in New York City (not an expat). Although I support Coventry (still) from a little more than 31 miles away, I was in the Palace supporters' club that May Saturday in 1990.

My older brother supports Chelsea, bless his heart. He did not know where Crystal Palace was from. I explained they came from Croydon ("a swinging place for big shows"/Upper Norwood, where Kate Moss was sporadically fed. I also told him about the Seasons in the Sun chant about Brighton. Needless to say, he was thrilled.

The previous weekend, there was a Sunday broadsheet magazine article by a lifelong Palace supporter. I remembered that he mentioned a Time Out article that listed 100 Best of London items, with only 10 found south of the Thames. This haunted me when New York magazine listed 99 of its 100 hometown highlights in the borough of Manhattan (I'm from Queens). Does anyone have a link to this pre-Internet story to help explain Palace to my benighted brother? Anyone who remembers Cobi Jones' injury-time winner is excused.

Congratulations, where Eagles fly!

Just to clarify--I really was at Selhurst in 1990. The snooker table was to the left of the big screen.

TBF I read somewhere we are one of the most hated clubs in football. Besides the main 3 we seem to disliked by sides like Watford, Sheff Weds, Sunderland, UTD, Dons, West Ham and a few others I am sure it said we are the 11th most hated club in the country.

Yep, I’ve also seen Bristol City, QPR and Gillingham refer to Palace as ‘scum’. Not even mentioning the 3 other main rivals. We do seem to be one of the most hated clubs around. Considering we never have any success, that’s quite an achievement.
