Unless it was to a Charlton, Millwall or Brighton, Going Down songs are not classy.

Our great support (blah, blah) will be tarnished if we go the way of trogolidite clubs like Leeds, West Ham, Chelsea etc in our song choices.

Plus, staying up (if we do) once out of a few attempts gives us no place to cheer others being relegated.

Nothing worse than cockiness in most things, especially football.

Even if we were mathematically safe, it still lacks class. I thought we were better than that?

I'd much prefer to will our own team to win, rather than trying to tempt fate by belittling someone else's.

'Going down' songs aren't a good idea.

Just the sort of thing to come back and haunt us.

This

Ditto. I remember 92/93- Oldham stayed up on goal difference after we were NINE points ahead with 3 games to go. They won the lot. We lost the lot. 94/95 - A Villa stayed up on goal difference (4 relegated - we were 4th from bottom). 2004/05 - two losing cup semi finals and relegation thanks to last kick of game v Saints and 8 mins from time from Clowns' equaliser and Pompey's capitulation against the Baggies. All of these hurt.

I'm not getting carried away at all. I still think we need 8 points to be safe. So, one game at a time, starting with Cardiff.

1 June 2010 - saved from oblivion by CPFC 2010
27 May 2013 - promoted to Premier League
2013-14 - 11th in PL
2014-15 - 10th in PL
2015-16 - 15th in PL
2016-17 - 14th in PL (and grateful for that!)

anyone who's followed Palace for longer than 10 minutes KNOWS you don't sing "you're not very good" songs until way after the match has ended, far far far too many times we've done that then watched the team being dismantled in the following 5 minutes. I recall 3:0 up vs Portsmouth years ago with about 20 to play, and we staretd all the p1ss taking songs etc only to watch Palace concede 5 in 20 minutes.

Never again will I sign those words until the end of a match.

Not a fan of going down songs either.

We will basically be turning into Charlton fans, when they sent us down.

I think it has been a good campaign for all teams involved, and we have nothing against the teams around us really.

Lets come back to this thread at the end of the season and see if we are still talking about the same teams.

I am not a great lover of Cardiff, but I do have a soft spot for Fulham, and would see no great merit in gloating over their misfortune ( should it come to pass).

I'd much rather celebrate our survival rather than another team's demise. Okay, if it was Charlton, Millwall, Brighton (and a few others) I might think differently.

Anyway, until our chickens have hatched any such plans seem to be tempting fate.

Need to show a bit of class, Hopefully Celebrate us staying up but no need to rub other fans noses in it.

This

lets get behind the team and celebrate a unique moment in our history if this happens.

Look at Charlton, that has really come back to haunt them

personally, I think there is only one time that this would be acceptable and thats if it was Brighton getting relegated. Anything else and as others have said, its classless.

Why don't we just celebrate our team positively with:

That's why we're staying up/ That's why we're staying up/That's why we're staying up/ That's why we're staying up.

Would prefer that to 'going down/ going down' etc
