Loyalty points flaw

The only thing wrong with loyalty points is that those that are building up their points will never be able to catch up with the fans who already have a high number of points.
When people get the away tickets they build up more points because they can get the tickets and the ones who cant get the tickets cant build up their points enough to get tickets in the future.

Now I quite often get tickets of other Palace fans that cant make the game for whatever reason so, once again I cant build up my points.
Before you ask. Yes I pay for the tickets so as the people don't lose out on the money that they have paid.

Got plenty of mates up at Palace and someone always cant make a game so I get offered the tickets.

Not saying that the loyalty system is wrong but it does have its flaws.

Seen it on here plenty of times. People whinging that they cant get extra tickets when they have s*** loads of loyalty points and blaming it on the day trippers or whoever.
Anyway I just got that off my chest.

No ticket as off yet for the Liverpool game but where there is a will there is a way.

I thought that it was for fans over x amount of points, you get first priority. As long as you are over that (say it was 5k) then it doesn't matter if you have 5k bang on or 50k...

Very few away games this season haven't gone on general sale or on sale to people with low points. Perhaps about 4. So it only really means the newer fans can't get tickets for high profile London away games.

Give it a couple of seasons going to the likes of West Brom, Norwich etc. and you'll qualify for the games in demand.

Hope you manage to get a Liverpool ticket. Perhaps a season ticket is the way to go.

They have a similar (albeit a bit different) system for England games.

Everyone 'new' started at zero some time, you just have to go to every game you can get a ticket for, and slowly you creep up and past other people, to get into the higher points level.

As long as you reach the top 2,500 or so fans, you'll be fine for tickets.

Without a season ticket though (ie the 500 points a year that come with it) I'd say the most in demand games will usually be impossible.

Yep.
Just might get a season ticket next season. Never had to before as never had problems getting tickets but like loads of us. That was then and now is now.
Like others on here I work a night shift so mid week games I would not be able to go to.
Loads off palace fans travel some distance to watch the red and blue and that is for the home games..
Yep looks like a season ticket is the way for me.
Not bothered about the so called big games. It's palace I go to watch and always have done.

If you want tickets bad enough you can get them. Any mates that have asked me to get them tickets I have managed to get them, that included 10 tickets for the Liverpool game, 5 Chelsea tickets, 6 Arsenal had to buy Cat b games as well but used some of them to swap for other games or sold them on. On Friday there were loads of tickets up for sale for the Chelsea game and no doubt Liverpool tickets will be sold day before. hope you get a ticket ok but as for the loyalty points scheme it does work and those that go week in week out should get priority.

Yeah, it's only the few big/popular away games that they've actually brought in the loyalty points thing anyway, Home tickets are a different policy altogether as far as I'm aware (eg. being a member first or making sure people buy a 'Cat B' ticket too etc, not a bad idea to stop away fans getting them).

I don't see the 'loyalty points scheme' as having any flaws myself. You get 500 points for a season ticket in the last two seasons/next season and then 20 points per an away game, I think. So season ticket holders get a huge advantage (rightly so, although gutting if you're someone who mainly goes away). Those season ticket holders who then go away the most will then have that little bit extra in points, as reward for their loyalty, and get first priority for any 'major' away game high in demand. So yes, difficult for someone to catch up, but it's only over the last few seasons as I understand it (recognising when we were in the Championship too), so not like a young new fan who can't compete with an older guy who's had a season ticket his whole life, but never goes Away.

They'll be problems when people have a ticket and it's not been bought in their name, therefore not on their record. But there are ways to get it shown under Client Numbers online or if you buy it direct from the office, I believe. I myself have been away a number of times with a friend buying our tickets, now I try to make sure it's all recorded so we don't lose out on the loyalty points. It's unfortunate if you're someone who goes away a lot but don't have a season ticket for whatever personal reasons, but the club have to draw the line somewhere and in my opinion it's all very fair.

Whilst I agree the system has flaws, I personally think it's the fairest system we could have in place.

Unfortunately, when demand outweighs supply, you'll always have people that are disappointed. What the loyalty points system does, is give the people who have committed the most amount of money to the club in recent years, priority. This is fair.

As someone above has said, if you buy a season ticket, start going to regular away games, then you'll have a decent amount of points in no time. If you have a season ticket and go to 6 away games a season, you'll always be there or there about on the first release of in demand tickets.

Impossible to please everyone no matter what the system, this is the one that seems fairest and makes most sense to me.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.
