I know a lot is made of this and we have heard it so many times over the years but I really do think this is the time we will finally kick on.

We have a great squad who seem to want to fight for the club and have so much time for the fans and a manager who knows what he is doing with every decision he makes.

TP realised the potential Stoke had and made them grow into a solid premier league side who made it into Europe as well as a FA Cup Final.

I firmly believe he is the man to take us to the same heights and hopefully further!

Crystal Palace's potential is huge. The problem is in the past whenever we have been on the verge of something big and just a bit of investment is needed to push us on to the next level the chairman at the time decided to sell and cash in and make a fast buck. Both Raymond Bloye and Ron Noades were guilty of this. The most disappointing instance was at the end of the season we finished 3rd. a bit of money spent that summer would have actually seen us challenge for the title! Who knows where we would be now if we'd have won it! Instead we spent nothing, Leeds (who finished 8th I think that year) DID invest and they went on to win the title the following year. Ian Wright and Mark Bright have since revealed their disappointment that the club never grasped the opportunity to kick on and admitted this was a big factor in their decisions to quit Palace for more ambitious clubs when the chance presented itself.
If our owners are prepared to keep pouring the clubs profits back in to the club and it is spent wisely why not? If the likes of Stoke, Swansea and Wigan can reach a cup final I don't see why we couldn't go one step further and reach a high league position or be successful in Europe.

Don't we have to put undersoil heating in if we stay up? That will be expensive

Be lovely and warm on the feet though.

Sure the financial rewards of staying in the PL will cover the cost of the under-soil heating - and still leave a few quid for TP to spend !

And think how much we'll save on slippers!

I was thinking the same thing too and I havent felt as good about the future since the days of John Jackson and Stevie Kember.

I feel funny because instead of looking at relegation I am now asking myself if we can finish 11th or 10th. So maybe Im getting carried away.

I am not sure what I am aspiring to, I dont want to be a super club with a moneybags owner and spoilt players. But do I want to be a Stoke, Swansea? I think on balance probably! I cant see another model that suits what I think Palace have been about.

I have never felt as good about Palace as I do now. Passionate owners who care about the club, but are financially prudent, a manager who is formidably competent, and knows what to do to keep the team performing to stay in the PL, and a group of players who give their all for the club.

I think there's a danger of getting carried away. We're not even safe yet, and as a club have never managed to stay up after promotion to the premiership. I'm happy to see selhurst get spruced up a bit and to keep going with work in our community and grassroots.

The South London and proud campaign was great. I hate to use the term, but that is how the club shd market itself. Our atmosphere and support shd be our main selling point. You just don't get close anywhere in London in the top flight.

Since Noades left we've pretty mcuh been a shambles apart from the luck of Andy Johnson being part of the Clinton Morrison deal. Plenty of clubs have leapfrogged us as we've stagnated and in some areas gone backwards. F*ck me, Wigan & Reading used to be rugby towns and the clubs we used to be on level terms with but for the most part have been underdogs to has been frustrating to say the least.

Cardiff, Swansea, Ipswich, Norwich, Birmingham, f***ing Leicester, FFS Charlton, West Brom, plenty of sides that if we stay in the top league for long enough we can remain strong.

Always have to be wary of managers leaving, club being sold on and errors made, and of course the classic Charlton fan mistake of thinking you should elbow the manager because being at the top of the greasy pole of 9th place isn't good enough and once he's gone, on the slippery slope you go. Add in cup runs and key injuries to that (Brum going down when they were in decent condition and never to return with Zigic on £80k per week)

TP on the subject:

CRYSTAL Palace boss Tony Pulis has touched on the enormous potential the club has in south London to attract big crowds week in, week out at Selhurst Park.

Having worked previously in an area that had around 300,000 people while at Stoke City, the boss believes Palace don’t have to be in the Premier League to attract the big crowds and that further work elsewhere within the club can make them a big attraction.

And Pulis has hailed the club’s supporters, describing them as “wonderful” in playing their part to help the Eagles grow even bigger.

He said: “You look at south London and you think the club should be carrying the flag. If you do that, it’s just such a massive area.

I can see want TP is getting at but if he has a walk round Croydon and surrounding areas he will see more Chelsea and Barcelona shirts, due to TV coverage the kids are only interested in the glamour clubs these days.

Perhaps we could grow cannabis around the edge of the pitch as an additional source of revenue. A sideline, so to speak.

We are always talked up as having potential - going right back to Malcolm Allison.

Catchment area, being in Sarf London with little compettion, loyal fan base....good youth set up

We never quite seem to be able to realise it though..
